Only reason I can think of for using the Black Cat is to give Spidey a possible love interest to conflict with MJ. Although I thought that’s what Gwen Stacy was for. As far as I remember, the BC is fairly minimal Spidey villain.
@Morpheus: I don’t know about recently, but the Black Cat used to be quite prominent in the Spider-Man comics. She and Spider-Man/Peter had been romantically involved for a good period of time, back in the 80s and 90s when I collected comics. She wasn’t a villain at that time either, as she and Spider-Man would also fight crime together.
OK, I feel like a huge nerd. Anyway, it seems like they’re just tossing around any actress at this point. I’ll wait until there’s some concrete word on casting.
