Willem Dafoe to Re-Appear In Spider-Man 4?

Even though Norman Osborn aka The Green Goblin died in the first Spider-Man flick, the actor behind the mask, Willem Dafoe, managed to re-appear in both the second and third film in the series, through the diluted mind of Osborn Jr. But Harry Osborn (who was played by James Franco) died in the third movie, so that should supposedly be the end of the Osborns, right? Well, that might not be the case after all, at least not if Dafoe has anything to say about the matter, as he isn’t opposed to re-appearing in the fourth flick, though he has yet to receive a call.
“Let’s put it this way — no one’s called,” Dafoe tells MTV News when asked whether or not he will make a return. “I think it’s possible, but I haven’t heard anything.” So how could it be possible? Perhaps The Green Goblin didn’t die after all in the first movie, who knows. Anything is possible within the realm of comic books, where no villains ever truly die. Give us your spin on how The Green Goblin could be written into Spider-Man 4, in the comments below.

Come on Kasper… This is a non-story through and through.

Posted by Slushie Man on November 4th, 2009Fuck you for making me click on this absolute non story.
Posted by Charles on November 4th, 2009Maybe he appears in Peter Parkers nightmares.I Duno. But as long as Rami is directing the movie, I’m sure he’ll find a good reason. Dafoe is the shit.
Posted by Derek on November 4th, 2009There is no way for him to return, he died. Remember the butler in part 3 that somehow was certain his wounds were self-inflicted…
Posted by Chris on November 4th, 2009I’m over spiderman.
Posted by mark on November 4th, 2009He actually could return in person. In the comics, he returns as another villain, who is much tougher to defeat. His name is Scrier, and it’s Osborn ressurected. You can’t say that’s not possible, if there’s such thing as a man with mutant spider powers. My choices for characters:
Bruce Campbell = Mysterio
Joseph Gordon Levitt; Jackie Earle Haley; Jake Busey = Carnage
Oded Fehr; Jeffery Dean Morgan = Kraven
Posted by Hugh_Jass on November 4th, 2009Paul Rudd; Doug Jones = Chameleon
Josh Lucas; Patrick Wilson = Electro
Mickey Rourke; Ron Perlman = Shocker
Ben Kingsley; Terrence Stamp = Vulture
Elisha Cuthbert = Black Cat
Jerry O’Connell = Manwolf
Jon Hamm; Barry Pepper = Scorpion
Michael Clarke Duncan = Kingpin
Thomas Jane = Punisher
Hmmm… No one’s called me to be in Spiderman 4, either. Thanks, Kasper, for making me as newsworthy as Willem Dafoe.
And what, exactly, is a “diluted mind?”

“Norman Osborn aka The Green Goblin died in the first Spider-Man flick”
I was gonna wait until Spider-Man 6 and watch the whole series in reverse order, but now I know what happens at the “end”… thanks FilmJunk… for nothing…
Posted by Dane on November 5th, 2009This reminds me of a point that either Jay or Greg brought up about these franchises flatout killing the villian with seemingly zero chance of their return..when have a movie with a 100 million plus budget you’d think they’d want to keep certain options open…The Nolans saw fit to have the Joker captured..
For all the good that did them…
Posted by Pete on November 5th, 2009The Green Goblin could easily still be alive. Remember, we never saw the body at the funeral and the butler could have had Osborn Industries cover up Norman’s death. In the comics, the serum provided Norman a healing factor that enable him to survive the same exact injury. His body could have went into a catatonic state while it was repairing itself. This would create a hyped up sequel if they showed Norman appearing in the last scene of Spiderman 4. It would create a cliffhanger like The Empire Strikes Back. Excellent marketing ploy for the next movie…. Spiderman 5: The Return of the Green Goblin.
