I think its a matter of after taking a knife to his own career in Funny People, seeing him immediately jump back in the pile is kind of sad. It adds another level maybe to Funny People, that this person just can't escape that world, or maybe that Sandler thinks of Funny People as not much more than most other movies.

It's not a moral thing, it's just that once you already have that much money you have the freedom to be more picky about what you want to do. But I suppose having a lot of money just creates a need for even more money.

I love to hate Sandler as much as the next guy but lets be fair: if someone offered me millions of dollars to star in a POS comedy playing both Jack and Jill, I'd be on a plane to California before they even finished the sentence.

Why should "stars" be held to a higher moral yardstick over what they will do (or not do) for money?

I don't think anyone has a problem with Adam Sandler in comedies, but smarter comedies might be nice. From the premise this sounds way too close to being one of the fake George Simmons movies in Funny People. But yeah, it's hard to blame him for going back to what has been successful, especially when Funny People underperformed.

I don't understand how following up Funny People with a drama would legitimize him as an actor. Sandler has tried the dramatic route several times and audiences have not been drawn to those movies.

Reign over me was a great film and Sandler did an amazing job in it and no one saw it. He also did dramatic turns in Spanglish and Punch Drunk Love. Both films got overlooked by audiences.

Click was the only film that mixed his comedy and some drama and was a success.

I think after Funny People, Sandler is going back to what has worked before and I don't see what is wrong with that. There are a lot of people that want to see him in comedies and I am one of them.

I rolled my eyes reading this news. Frankly, I blame the public for choosing not to see Funny People. This is him punishing everyone for not seeing it. He could have chosen a more meaningful film to work on next, but instead he goes back to this because the general public doesn't like to see him in that more meaningful light.
