Film Junk Weekend Wrap-Up: First Official A-Team Photo, Rock of Ages Movie, Neill Blomkamp’s Next Gets Funding

firstateamofficial

Hey guys, I made it back from my two-week trek through Japan, and I’m still a bit jet-lagged — which means I was up earlier on a Saturday morning than I’ve been in a very long time. So I thought I would go through and collect a bunch of the news stories that we may have missed over the past week or so. Kasper, Greg and Jay did a pretty good job of keeping you guys in the loop, and to be honest, there weren’t a ton of major headlines anyway. I was able to send out some of these via my Twitter account while I was away, but from here on in I’ll be back to my usual daily posting routine throughout the week.

Note: The next podcast will not be recorded until Monday night since Jay is still away at the Flyway Film Festival in Wisconsin, where his short film Colore Non Vendenti will be playing this afternoon at 5 pm.

  9. The site from which the link came brings a good complaint that it sure looks like they are trying to go for a complete copy of the original show. I don’t know if I like that or not. The merit of a remake of any old movie or show is to see how they modernize things, and how the makers play on that. Look at Miami Vice. Now, it wasn’t the most successful remake of a classic ’80’s TV show, but it was done by the original creator and he decided to change things up. The names stay the same but everything else changes. If you’re going to keep everything the same as the old show but set it in the present day then do it like the Brady Bunch movies. They did it tongue-in-cheek, with the whole joke being that the family is trapped in the ’60’s but living in the ’90’s. Now if they did that with this A-Team movie that might be interesting. By the way, I saw set photos of Jessica Biel, running around with law-enforcement types in high heels and holding a gun. So it appears that she does play some kind of cop type character on the hunt for the team. I already don’t like this. I know the movie’s not shooting for utter realism here but when’s the last time you saw a female cop in high heels who looks like Jessica Biel? Maybe that’s why the Law & Order shows never cast actresses who are super hot.
