The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to Get Rebooted Yet Again?

sawtexaschainsaw

With Michael Bay and his buddy Brad Fuller recently becoming too occupied with their other horror remakes to worry about another sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, their Platinum Dunes production company has opted not to renew the rights to the franchise. Normally I would think this was great news, but instead it appears that a new deal is being worked out with Twisted Pictures, the same folks behind the never-ending Saw series. Yay.

According to Variety, they are planning to restart the franchise all over again, with Stephen Susco (The Grudge, The Grudge 2) getting the call to “contemporize the storyline” for a new Leatherface film. As you might expect, this new Texas Chainsaw remake is also being planned as a 3-D release. Is it just me or is 3-D now becoming a new excuse to remake things that have already been remade? It’s getting pretty ridiculous. Carl Mazzocone, Mark Burg and Oren Koules are all on board as producers. Are you interested in seeing more Texas Chainsaw Massacre films, or should they just leave it alone at this point?

  1. lol sean you’re too hard on the Saw films. it got out of control after 3. but the first 3 are very very original. might wanna give them another chance :)

  2. Saw is exhausted.

TTCM remake of a remake? Give it a rest as much as I like the franchise.

  3. If the filmmakers can “get” the reason why the original TCM is loved then fair enough. If we get more like the remake then….blegh.

  4. This is absolutely pathetic. It’s also further proof – as if any were ever needed – that Hollywood is the unimaginative vacuum we all knew it was. When they’re going to that much trouble, why not just go the extra mile and come up with some ORIGINAL stories? Hollywood, you are braindead.

  5. God, I hate 3D.

  6. I love the texas chainsaw massacre. I dont mind this. I do mind the 3d.
