Where are you patrick? Wassup? if old eps get reinstated, you may be disappointed that Jay and I only had 2.5 or so big movie arguments. For your reference/pleasure – The Simpsons Movie, Clerks II and Nacho Libre. Jay over the years changed his mind about the latter, for some reason bought the Simpsons Movie, and I have no idea about Clerks II, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he owns it because he ends up owning a lot of stuff he doesn’t actually like for some reason or another. The best episode I was on was easily the Transformers 1 review, otherwise I was pretty meh at best since I was on over Skype with a bit of a lag.

I don’t mean to be contrarian just to be contrarian. By the way Patrick, you lurking douchebag, I apologize. Feel free to scold me whenever I am out of line. I am curious what threads you are referring to on the podcast though, do you want to give an example? I guess since both the readers and Jay himself feel I am out of line, I will try and be less challenging. Back on subject.

I just think that if Spielberg Lucas and Cameron has ever been on the cutting edge of anything, it’s visual effects. Not storytelling or insight in the human condition. So it makes perfect sense that these guys are the ones embracing 3D.

It’s curious that Shyamalans new movie isn’t in 3D. Maybe he will come across as irrelevant when it opens, and it will be another blow to his career. I think Shyamalan is one of the best hollywood directors, and he is not doing 3D, even though he is trying to make a blockbuster phenomenon. I guess they can 3D-ify it if needed.

Are any of next summers tentpole movies in 3D? Other than animated movies, is stuff like The A-Team, Clash of the Titans etc. in 3D? I don’t think they are. There is still a chance that it will die, although it seems unlikely since the movies are making more money, even though they are selling the same number of tickets.

Neil Marshall is a hack. His only good film is The Descent, and he stole the story from author Jeff Long – which coincidentally enough titled his 2001 novel, THE DESCENT…

3-D is here to stay. To quote some dude on the Monsters vs. Aliens special features: if the great directors, like Spielberg, Lucas and James Cameron are working in 3-D, you know it’s not just a gimmick.

Haven’t seen Doomsday yet but Dog Soldiers is great and The Descent is one of my favourite movies – horror or otherwise.
