The Flash Movie is Going Nowhere

Warner Brothers are odd. On the one hand they are are trying their best to develop all the comic book movies they can, but on the other they’re halting the ones that are ready to go into production. The Flash movie seems to be going nowhere. The movie’s producer Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) recently had a little chat with IGN where in he had some bad news to deliver. Apparently Warner Bros. are halting the movie and his involvement in it, which has prompted him to more or less give up on the whole thing.
“I was involved at one point with The Flash And Warner Bros. came to me and said, ‘The work that you’ve been doing hasn’t yet resulted in something that any of us, including the filmmaking team, feel could be greenlit as a movie. That doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to be a part of it. We just want to take a different kind of approach.”
I don’t know, maybe this is a good move from Warner’s side, maybe the stuff Roven has brought to the table hasn’t been worthy of going into production, but somehow I just don’t believe it. It looks like they are halting the movie indefinitely. Roven seems to be of the same belief, as he added that he realized that nothing he could bring to the table was ever going to be good enough. What do you think, will The Flash ever amount to anything, or will it be delayed for eternity?

This is old news. Dan Mazeau is still writing the script and Geoff Johns is still consulting. Roven hasn’t been involved for six months.
Posted by marcus315 on October 6th, 2009I think The Flash only works on paper and not on screen. It’s a silly character with silly powers that are very hard to make convincing and cool.
Posted by swarez on October 6th, 2009Yea it’s a boring concept considering that superman already has super speed. I think I remember comic books from the 70s where they raced each other lol.
Aside from Superman/Batman/Green Lantern DC doesn’t have any characters I’d pay to see in a film. Marvel totally dominates the superhero lineup IMO.
But I would love to see The Dark Knight Returns in a decade or so after the Batman franchise has run itself into the ground as they all eventually do.
Posted by Damndirtyape on October 6th, 2009As someone who is much more of a DC fan than marvel, I think the Flash would make a much better movie then half the crap marvel has, but that’s just me. As with anything, you need the hero to be well understood by the person who is writing it and if Geoff Johns is involved, all will be taken care of.
And if goddamn Battleship is getting green lit, I guarantee The Flash will see the light of day within a couple years.
Posted by Justice on October 7th, 2009It’s only a matter of time until we see The Flash. Wonder Woman is the one we may never see.
Posted by Ryan M. on October 7th, 2009The Flash is not silly! Take that back.

One can only hope.
Posted by Damndirtyape on October 7th, 2009I don’t know what you guys are talking about.
I love The Flash! He’s probably my favorite superhero out of them all (:
If this movie really does go into production I’ll be the happiest person alive!
