Greg’s account of our encounter is pretty much accurate. Since through the podcast I know so much more about his life than he does about me (other than that I parse star reviews
) it was probably for him more like talking to a fan than a friend.
Also I wasn’t sure if he was with a friend or on a date, and if I was intruding. Regardless yes it was a good show, and credit to Greg for at the Galileo sign language bit being the very first person to get what was going on, as indicated by his sole loud boisterous laugh pointing at everyone to pay more attention.
Apparently at the later show during the Mormon/Scientology bit the drummer from the Barenaked Ladies who was there got up and left in a huff.
Posted by Goon on October 6th, 2009I wish video existed of that encounter, it sounds awesome.
Posted by Henrik on October 6th, 2009I guess everybody needs some kind of porn.
Posted by Goon on October 6th, 2009Regarding the Polanski situation, sometimes Jay can get a bit self-righteous lol. It wasn’t just statutory rape from 30 years. He may have plead guilty for a crime, but he broke the law again by not returning. Now there are 5 or 6 other charges that he has to face. One of them is fleeing from the U.S. before his sentencing, which is punishable by law.

uuuuuuuuh, what?
Posted by Rick on October 6th, 2009Ummm…Schizopolis, how am I being self-righteous? I’m on the side of Polanski facing his punishment, whatever it may be.
Posted by Jay C. on October 6th, 2009“uuuuuuuuh, what?”
‘bit’ in comedy parlance equals ‘routine’. Cross was making fun of Joseph Smith and L Ron Hubbard, and the Barenaked Ladies guy walked out. I did some checking up to see if BNL were either of those religions, and apparently they’ve performed at the head Mormon temple before, but otherwise, I dont know. But the guy was offended and didnt return.
Posted by Goon on October 6th, 2009I’m hoping a superfan will go through the shows and edit together all of Jays Trews-parodies, this show was a welcome return to form for it. Fucking. Awesome.
Posted by Henrik on October 6th, 2009Actually, what I was hoping someone would do is edit together all of the times Jay (purposely or not) said an actors name wrong. I wonder how long such a set of clips would run.
Posted by Goon on October 6th, 2009I agree, some hardcore fans should definitely get on both of these.
Posted by Sean on October 7th, 2009My friend and podcasting co-host had me listen to this episode since he sent in the letter about the Zombieland/Anaconda discrepency. I really enjoyed the show! You’ve gained a new fan!
Posted by Chris on October 8th, 2009Thanks Chris, glad to have you with us!
Posted by Sean on October 8th, 2009greg was hungry for children.
Posted by kris on October 8th, 2009I thought Jay’s whole infatuation with James was amusing until he emailed me to ask that when he would be in town if James could meet him dressed in a red shirt, wearing no pants and asking to sample some of Jay’s “hunny”.
Posted by Matt Gamble on October 8th, 2009Who the hell is James?
Posted by Henrik on October 8th, 2009I’m mostly with Jay on the Zombieland review. The movie simply isn’t funny… at all. The Twinkie bit is retarded and overblown. It’s funny if you’re 12 maybe. Eisenberg and the two girls were horribly miscast I thought.
And on “the rules” – I actually didn’t mind how they were shown on screen. What I minded is bring a sub-culture to the main stream and dumbing it down for them. The main stream sees all those rules and laughs – oh that’s so funny and original. Shut the fuck up; no it’s not. YOU’RE just seeing it for the first time. It’s like when a little indie band you love finally makes it big after four albums. You’re happy they got success, but you don’t like em as much any more because they’re not “yours”. That’s how I feel about the zombie thing.
PS – I’m wearing my “Vote Yes to the Zombie Apocalypse” t-shirt for every minute you’re in Minneapolis Jay.
Posted by Andrew James on October 9th, 2009Dumbing down zombies? Oh noes, the legendary intellectualism of Night of the Living Dead must not be forgotten.
Posted by Henrik on October 9th, 2009a podcast reviewing cantankerous, obama getting the nobel peace prize, whats next!
Posted by kris on October 9th, 2009Andrew, I can’t tell if you’re being ironic or not, which means you must suck at being a hipster. Or maybe I do.
Posted by Dave on October 10th, 2009This is the first and last Movie Junk podcast I will listen to. Jay ruins your show. His voice is monotone, from having his headphones too loud and he is too close to the microphone. Take the headphones off and back away from the mic, it will make a big difference. He beats a dead horse which makes the show annoying. When Jay went to the bathroom, the show was great, very entertaining. Dump Jay and you will have a great show.
Posted by Steve on October 10th, 2009Jay aint goin anywhere Steve, so farewell. I’m sure Movie Junk will be just fine
Posted by Goon on October 11th, 2009Steve, you’re the first person I know of who’s dissed Jay! Ha ha. Come back, Steve. Jay will grow on you.
(Good thing Steve didn’t catch a podcast that I was on. I think I would have been emotionally crippled to hear Steve’s criticisms about me. Wait, is “emotionally crippled” not politically correct?)
