James Franco Joins the Cast of General Hospital

James Franco. He sure has come a long way since the days of starring in the comedy series Freaks and Geeks. Not only has he been a major part of the Spider-Man trilogy, but he has also impressed audiences with both his comedic talents in Pineapple Express and his turn opposite Sean Penn in the drama Milk. So what is next for this rising star? Lead in a new comedy perhaps? Or maybe taking part in a new blockbuster franchise? Nah, that’s not it, the next logical step for a rising star is of course to join the cast of a daytime soap opera!

Yes, that’s right, Franco has for some reason pleaded his case to Jill Farren Phelps, the producer of daytime soap General Hospital, as to why he would be a good addition to the regular cast of the show. Not surprisingly, Phelps is ecstatic about signing Franco onto the show, and so he will appear for a two month run, playing a mysterious character who interacts with the entire cast. Franco will first appear on November 20th. “Awesome”. What do you think, is this an interesting and bold move from Franco’s side, or is it a career crushing mistake? Should more movie actors follow Franco and start doing daytime soap operas?

  1. Dude need’s the work or maybe he saw spiderman 3 and said to himself “i’m Fucked”.

  2. he’ll win over all the housewives if he hasn’t already and his career will continue to flourish. its a risky move but i think he’ll come out on top.

  3. hmmm well for an actor the grind of a soap opera would be something akin to marathon running … well maybe not. Perhaps it’s study for a role? It’s only 2 months which is long enough to help him work on his chops I guess.

  4. he’s such a pot head…this idea was conceived on the green stuff.

  5. Seriously James? Seriously???

  6. It´s fine, I doubt it will hurt his career.. The shooting doesn´t take very long and he´ll still get roles for movies when he´s done..

  7. The producers of that show must have some serious dirt on Franco to cast him in this.

  8. Mr. Franco has a seriously excellent sense of humor as exemplified by his hilarious contributions to funnyordie.com. I highly recommend checking them out:

in my opinion, funniest dude associated with Judd Apatow.

  9. how can i make fun of franco when you bitches censor you’re site now. fucking canadians

  10. This is so strange. Franco has made some crappy, crappy movies, but the guy is a hell of an actor when he has good material. Look at Milk. Pineapple Express. James Dean.

  11. Seems like a lot people are putting Franco on a pedestal, but soap operas are probably the best way to keep an actors game up. Treating acting as a day-to-day job and keep up a good work ethic is nothing but a good for any actor.

I am a little surprised that he is still acting though. Last I heard he is still going to college at Columbia. Career crushing? Give me a break.
