First Photos from The Other Guys Starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg

We don’t tend to post leaked set pics around here very often, but in this case, not only is it a movie that I’m pretty excited about, the photos themselves are surprisingly high quality. In fact, they could probably even pass as official stills. The movie we’re talking about here is the latest comedy from Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, previously titled B-Team, and now called The Other Guys. Personally I think B-Team is a way better title, but perhaps there were legal issues with the upcoming A-Team movie?
In these photos, which originate from Accidental Sexiness, we get our first glimpse of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as cops. Apparently they play the bumbling second-stringers of the department, as opposed to Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson, who, according to Variety, will play the “elite and cocky cop tandem” that everyone else looks up to. Steve Coogan will play the villain. Sound good to you? I’m convinced that this is going to be amazing. The Other Guys hits theatres on Aug. 6, 2010; check out a few more pics after the jump.

this is looking good. should be interesting to see how Wahlberg plays off against Will Ferrell’s style of comedy.
Posted by modesilver on September 28th, 2009Amazing?
Not likely.
Posted by Shut-Up Ed on September 28th, 2009Anything with Will Ferrell being directed by Adam McKay, will likely be amazing. Shut up Shut-Up Ed. ;D

Posted by kris on September 28th, 2009So fucking sick of Marky Marky & his Happing Bullshit!
Posted by Machete on September 28th, 2009So fucking sick of fanboys who are sick of everything!
Posted by Drew on September 28th, 2009I disrespectfully disagree Drew – Will Ferrell’s shtick is getting old (and I am a fan) and Marky Mark doesn’t have a funy bone in his body. Furthermore, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Dwayne Johnson “The Rock”???
No, Drew. No. This one will find a home for itself quite easily in the “meh” category of easily forgettable film poop.

Two words: Boogie Nights
RIP Argument.

Posted by jill cook on September 28th, 2009Goon,
98 words: “Marky Mark was not funny in Boogie Nights. He was the guy with the big dong, remember? The funny people in that movie were everyone surrounding Marky Mark, remember? I mean, seriously… have you SEEN Boogie Nights? Every single character is an extreme parody EXCEPT for Marky Mark who essentially plays the straight man for the entire film. Do we really need to go through the zany characters in this movie??? Reed Rothchild (John C. Reily), Maurice T.T. Rodriguez (Luiz Guzman), Rollergirl (Heather Grham), Scotty! (Phillip Seymor Hoffman) I mean… shit man, come on! Watch the movie again.”
RIP: The last remaining vestiges of non-douchebagginess that had, until just this moment, been barely holding on within you. Now, because of your last post, you are 100% douche. And that sucks.
Posted by Shut-Up Ed on September 28th, 2009I just thought Goon was referring to the bone, not the fact that it was funny.
Posted by Sean on September 28th, 2009Well he did, unquestionably, have a rather large bone, but it was hardly funny… and it was only of real use when placed within the bodies of others…

Posted by RJ on September 29th, 2009A couple of these almost make it look like it’s going to be more of a Tango and Cash feel. You know comedy and action. Boy I hope so. Apatow apparently is trying to get outside his norm with that self indulgent dramedy stuff but I think McKay can pull off a throw back to classic 80’s action comedies.
Posted by Ian on September 29th, 2009lets not jump to conclusions here. wahlberg can act. lets see how he plays this one out.
Posted by modesilver on September 29th, 2009It all depends on if someone enjoyed Step Brothers for me to even consider there point about Ferrell’s Schtick getting old. If you enjoyed it, i’ll listen, if you didn’t STFU. (calm down i’m semi-joking) The only thing that would really worry me about this project is the inclusion of C-List actors like The Rock, and Samuel L. Jackson(once A list, now C, well maybe B).
Posted by Drew on September 29th, 2009Samuel L. Jackson is an A-class actor, he just appears in way too many movies. Very few movies are A-class.
I anticipate this greatly, it will be funny I think. Getting a new, established name like Mark Wahlberg makes perfect sense to me, to make it seem more fresh. I can’t wait to be honest.
Posted by Henrik on September 29th, 2009The Rock can do comedy. Just not family comedy. The Rock’s first gig hosting SNL was pretty damn funny.
Now, the Rock says give him a chance. He can show that jabroni Mark Wahlberg how to be funny.
Posted by The Rock on September 29th, 2009i think this movie is going to be chilidishly stupid but will make alot of money. but i must admit i agree with all of you who said give it a chance. both dwayne and mark can act. and will he is just funny in a getting old kind of way. but we will just have to see.
boogie nights was a good/great movie. and although it did have some great comedic moment’s i don’t think that should over shadow the depth and the drama that took place in that story.
but this movie will be interesting. so i’m excited to hear it. Thanks sean
