Oh yeah, it is pretty cool. This movie was very WOW, very Second Skin gone mad. It was really eighties, with its Terminator-like chase sequence, and Bruce Willis beat up like original Die Hard and getting his vengeance.

If you look at it like 80’s nostalgia, this movie hits all the right notes, and that includes concepts touched upon, then left to the imagination. Tacking on another half hour of exploration of the surrogate concept, that’s what made Watchmen’s middle part boring, you know, the angsty nonsence?

This was a clean Bruce Willis carried future classic, and it’s 3 out of 4, not 1.5

Mostow was supposed to be the next big action movie director but after a promising start with “Breakdown” and “U-571″ he seems to have petered out. In fact this is his first theatrical movie since T-3! What’s he been doing all this time?

That is an excellent observation Henrick! This movie has a good concept, but judging from the choice of script writers, director and Sean’s review, they couldn’t execute it the right way. Ultimately it ended up becoming one of the many mediocre movies of this genre.

That’s true, Avatar does look like it will cover some similar territory as well, although I am guessing it will have a lot more action than Surrogates.

This may have gotten beaten to the punch by GI JOE, but it definitely beat Avatar to the punch. Don’t they seem very similar? Isn’t Avatar about a disabled guy living through a surrogate? I guess the difference is that Avatar is alien surrogates.
