Rotten Tomatoes Picks the Worst Movies of the Decade

When it comes to reviewing movies, I’ve always found that one of the most difficult things is not deciding whether a movie is good or bad, but rather, deciding whether a movie is bad or downright terrible. Make no mistake, there are many different levels of bad movies, but does anyone really care to get down to the nitty gritty of debating which ones are slightly better than others? It just seems like a colossal waste of energy.
Fortunately, the good folks over at Rotten Tomatoes have recently decided to sift through their vast review archives to give us the definitive Worst of the Worst list for the past 10 years in film. I don’t think there are too many surprises here, although the good news is that I think quite a few of these are movies that no one has seen. Maybe now they’ll finally find the audience they deserve! Are there any major duds missing from the list? Check out the top 20 after the jump, or head over to Rotten Tomatoes to see if you agree with the full countdown.

Posted by Dexter Morgan on September 25th, 2009i think inglourious bastards should be in this list … if not top it
Posted by CLAUDE on September 25th, 2009Twilight should be Number 1
Posted by DeadFox on September 25th, 2009I havent seen any movie on this list. I guess thats a good thing.
Posted by Niklas on September 25th, 2009With too much of the good we always get a wave of backlash, gift wrapped in crazy. Inglorious Basterds? Really? Don’t even explain why, you just fail.
Posted by Kim on September 25th, 2009I gotta agree, that Ecks Vs Sever movie was 100% shit. Can you classify worst movies against each other? I’m not sure. Surprised “Gigli” is nowhere on this list. Does not exclude it from sucking!
Posted by Julien on September 25th, 2009Claude…eat shit and die twice.
Posted by Bob The Slob on September 25th, 2009Saw Rollerball, Battlefield Earth and Ecks Vs Sever.
Posted by Duke Togo on September 25th, 2009For some reason I thought Ecks Vs was a McG film, it truly deserves the worst of the decade award, well I didn’t see the other 97 on the list so that’s just a guess.
I feel good. I don’t think I’ve seen any of these movies. Recent “bad movies” haven’t been that fun anyway.
Posted by Ian on September 26th, 2009Ballistic? that movie rule’s, i’m so sick of “LISTS”, This and every other one on “THE WEB” mean’s Jack Fucking Shit so what if asshole’s think a movie is bad i loved Rod Zombie’s H2 i gave it a 9.5 out of 10 so this list means nothing.
Posted by Machete on September 26th, 2009Haven’t even heard of more than half on the list.
Posted by RaphNL on September 26th, 2009Why didn’t anything made by the Wayan’s brothers make the list?
Whitegirls?
Posted by Shut-Up Ed on September 26th, 2009That one with the CG midget with a huge head?
And the Real no#1 is………………….8 Mile.
Posted by Machete on September 27th, 2009I viewed the Top 100 list and I was happy to see a few on there (like Whiteout and the Epic, Disater and Date Movies). Even happier to see some of my “dumb” movies NOT on there. Joy!
Posted by Tommy on September 27th, 2009Let’s face it this list is bullshit.
Posted by Machete on September 28th, 2009slipstream directed by anthony hopkins from 2 years ago is the worst movie of all time!!
Posted by qiwi on September 28th, 2009I actually saw Ecks vs Sever and believe me, it was pretty fucking terrible. Maybe not worst movie of the decade (you gotta give them something for the okay budget and effort) but pretty close.
Posted by stevie_baby on September 28th, 2009One Missed Call wasn’t THAT bad honestly. And Strange Wilderness was a huge disappointment but there’s plenty worse films out recently.
Posted by Ant on October 1st, 2009like RT knows what? killing me softly
Posted by kaosmax4u on November 22nd, 2009Whoa. I agree with the vast majority of films on this list, but of all the Larry the Cable Guy atrocities, you pick Witless Protection? Honestly, Health Inspector and Delta Farce were far worse than that one. Also, I only see on Uwe Boll film on here. Isn’t everything he makes the worst? What about Postal? Also, what about the horrifyingly awful “spoof” films that nearly killed us? I’m talking about Date Movie, Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, and Meet the Spartans. Never was their an unfunnier time than watching this buckets of vomit. Any of those rank worse than Ecks vs. Sever, which was pretty bad, but not compared to these stinkpiles.
Posted by Eric Smith on January 1st, 2010Whoa! Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Especially those who make lists. So we,who know what we are talking about, know that the people who make these lists are failed actors or journalists who can’t make it in any other way but to critisise the works of others. I believe the “critics” of the day panned, “Gone With the Wind “!!!
