Sam Raimi to Produce Yeti Horror Movie

If you enjoyed Drag Me to Hell this summer as much as we did, then you’d probably rather see Sam Raimi return to horror again sometime soon rather than spend the next few years toiling away on blockbusters like Spider-Man 4 and World of Warcraft. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, but at least Raimi will be maintaining a little bit of involvement in the realm of horror as a producer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Raimi has signed on to produce Refuge, a horror flick from first-time British director Corin Hardy. The story takes place in the Himalayas where a small town is terrorized by a Yeti! Hey, you can’t go wrong with a creature feature in the snow, right?
The script will be written by Tom de Ville (Lexx), and in a smart move, Hardy and De Ville will first do a short film based on the premise to help prove out the concept. It remains to be seen exactly how much influence Raimi will have, but clearly he is on board to provide guidance to the young filmmaker. What do you think, does this movie have potential or will it turn out like some of Raimi’s other forgettable Ghost House productions?
