Deadpool Still Going Strong With Reynolds In The Lead

deadpoolmovingfwd

When the news hit that Ryan Reynolds was going to play Hal Jordan in Warner Bros. and DC Comics’ live action adaptation of The Green Lantern, everybody thought that this meant bye bye to his role as Deadpool in the spin-off to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, since it would mean toplining franchises for both Marvel and DC. Apparently that isn’t the case.

Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld has been updating his Twitter account regarding the movie, and during those tweets he has confirmed that Reynolds is still in the lead. He himself had been in the dark about whether or not Reynolds would do it and therefore during a meeting about the movie asked X-Men producer Lauren Schuler Donner if he was still attached, to which she and the other people attending the meeting gave a resounding yes.

He then went on to talk about the actual movie and how it will definitely live up to fans’ expectations. “Deadpool movie checklist- DP in costume-check! Breaking 4th wall-check! Loads of killing-double check! Donner Company is on top of making the Deadpool movie that fans want. They get it. He’s funny, tortured, clever, a bastard and mucho action!” I’m not too reassured though, since Wolverine was crap, X3 was crap and to be honest the first two flicks weren’t as awesome as they could have been. I hope Deadpool will be a lot different from the other movies in the franchise, but it’ll probably just be the same old, same old.

  1. I feel the same way about X3 and Wolverine, which is why my reviews for both films were so comprehensive:

X-Men 1 and 2 could have been better as well but they bowed down to a PG-13 rating, commercialism, and the desire to build a franchise.

At the end of the day, I hope Reynolds does indeed play Wade again. He was one of my favorite parts of Wolverine. “If it wasn’t for that mouth you would be the perfect soldier.”

  2. Im glad Ryan Reynolds is doing both. I want to see him in as many movies as I can. He is my fav actor and I love his movies. KEEP IT UP RYAN!

  3. dude… gay.

Provided this version of Deadpool is in NO WAY similar to the one appearing in the X-Men films, there is a chance it wont be terrible.

If, however, this version is in any way similar to the abortion I saw prancing around waving his pretty swords in the air, cutting bullets in half, and otherwise wire-fu-ing around in the X-Men movies – I am going to start breaking stuff.

  4. I would take what Rob Liefeld says with a grain of salt!

  5. I just need to see this movie.

  6. anyonewho actually follows and read the origin of deadpool would realize it is infact very close to the depiction of the WOLVERINE “deadpool” and Ryan Renolds played Wade Wilson NOT DEADPOOL! yes they are initially the same character but the actor who played the Deadpool Half was SCOTT ADKINS who was in Undisputed II with Michael Jai White.

Wolverine was OK… But in my OPINION the BEST OF ALL of them… X-Men 1-3 was like watching a child with downsyndrome direct a film.
