He should remake it as a Japanese movie. In Tokyo, all Japanese cast, speaking in Japanese. Like those other directors who remade their own movies, but the opposite.

You knew it was only a matter of time before this actually happened. Personally, I’m goddam tired of remakes, reboots and 15 year later sequels – 99% of them are so blatantly just about the $ and playing it “safe” it makes me sick. I have a hard time not letting shitty remakes taint the originals for me (that fuck George Lucas being the worst culprit) So if it’s going to happen regardless, I guess that it might as well be Cronenberg. Why the hell not? I just hope he brings something fresh to an already kickass film.

This is why I hate Hollywood hacks, and their un original remakes, homages, prequels and sequels.

I really don’t see how a remake could be better than the Cronenberg original. Even if he makes it himself we won’t get the great performance by Jeff Goldblum or the amazing practical effects and make-up. I’ve got no interest in seeing a CG fly.

And yeah, “a remake won’t affect the original movie in any way”, but why not spend the time and money making a NEW Cronenberg monster movie? That’s what I’d like to see.
