This Week on DVD: Observe and Report, Lymelife, Star Trek: TNG Motion Picture Collection

Jody Hill’s answer to Paul Blart is out on DVD today as Seth Rogen goes off the deep end in the dark and hilarious Observe and Report. On the flipside, we’ve also got the Matthew McConaughey rom-com Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, the animated CG adventure Battle for Terra, and the direct-to-DVD Scooby Doo prequel Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins. Some potential hidden gems include the Sundance hit Lymelife, Clive Barker’s Book of Blood, and Rob Zombie’s animated sex comedy The Haunted World of El Superbeasto. New releases on Blu-ray include the Criterion release of Monterey Pop, Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, plus whole lot of Star Trek. See anything worth picking up?

Did Reed blow his load when saw this list given that there’s about nine Star Trek movie’s coming out?
Posted by Machete on September 22nd, 2009Godzilla is only $12 this week at Amazon and Best Buy here in the US
Posted by joe on September 22nd, 2009I recommend Pierrot Le Fou, especially if you’re in the mood for a highly entertaining mindfuck! Very funny and quite impossible to wrap your head around.
Posted by Henrik on September 22nd, 2009Machete, I don’t get off on HD, so these re-releases of Star Trek movies don’t do anything for me. I’m a completist, but a frugal one.
Posted by Reed Farrington on September 23rd, 2009I get it! But Watching HD is like cumming on a Hot chick’s face or in your case Jay’s face!
Posted by Machete on September 23rd, 2009I ment to say Spocks face, sorry jay.
Posted by Machete on September 23rd, 2009I’ve been looking forward to the Observe and Report DVD release all year, I mean it’s probably my favorite movie of the year and i’m PROUD to say that.
But I am SO pissed that the DVD has no Special Features and the Blu Ray has two discs!!! I mean it’s obviously the beginning of a new tactic to make people transition from DVD to Blu Ray. But unfortunately since they’ve done it to my favorite movie of the year, and since i’ve already had the Observe and Report poster on my wall for 6 Months, it’s enough for me to start saving to buy a Blu Ray Player.
Posted by Drew on September 23rd, 2009get the PS3 slim its awesome
Posted by rus in chicago on September 23rd, 2009Why isn’t Star Trek V being released?
Posted by ProjectGenesis on September 23rd, 2009Probably because no one would buy it except for Reed Farrington! Looks like they’re just releasing the even numbered ones individually for now.
Posted by Sean on September 24th, 2009anyone like el superbeasto .. i wanted to like it, but it was kinda lame, but it did have cameos from characters in both of his other franchises.
Posted by blackmothra on September 24th, 2009and it did kinda feel like ren and stimpy or animaniacs a little, mixed with fritz the cat i guess .. but it was missing something and felt empty .. maybe it is better suited for kids.
speaking of Reed, what happened to the Cantankerous you recorded last week?
Posted by Goon on September 24th, 2009Forgot to give Jay a copy to edit… it will be coming at some point.
Posted by Sean on September 24th, 2009Yeah, Star Trek V won’t get released on Blu-ray until after I get a Blu-ray player and someone at Paramount finds out I have a Blu-ray player.
Posted by Reed Farrington on September 24th, 2009Bad year for Shatner in regards to Star Trek. He gets no love from the reboot and now his directorial effort is screwed out of Blu-ray release. It’s not that bad and left a huge impression on me when I first saw it as a kid. I’d love to see the final Sha Ka Ree scene in its glory.
