Young Cyclops Confirms X-Men: First Class?

Tim Pocock, the actor who played Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has now via his Twitter account accidentally confirmed that X-Men: First Class is indeed going to happen, and within a reasonable amount of time at that. Pocock, who aside from his role as the young version of Cyclops hasn’t appeared in anything else at all, made a Tweet telling about him beginning work on a Australian TV series with the shoot lasting until February 2010. The tweet then ended with him mentioning that afterwards work will begin on X-Men: First Class, which I guess would translate to somewhere around April or May.
So even though the news of the movie being prepped isn’t really news at all, as it has been hinted at strongly from many sides for the last half year or so, the news of when the shoot will happen is interesting as this most likely means the movie will be out around the same time the following year, which would translate to a late spring or an early summer release, a slot which if I’m not mistaken is inhabited by X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2. So what will happen, will the two movies clash or will they hold off one of them, because even though the movies both are X-Men film I guess they actually could be put up around the same time as they target slightly different audiences (First Class supposedly being very kid-friendly and Wolverine 2 more mature than the first). What do you think, will there be a battle of the X’es or will one or the other come out a later time?
Update: Either Pocock was punk’d or he spoke out of line, because he has since posted a retraction on his Twitter account saying that there is “no official word on XM:FC”.

This should be a live action tv series and not a movie.

Posted by Andrew | TrailerUnleashed.com on September 18th, 2009Doing a young X-Men movie would be a neat idea since it would hearken back to the original comic books which depicted them as teenagers. But I would hope that they don’t make it too “kid-friendly”. There are still some pretty good and serious themes and issues that can be covered and I hope they don’t sugarcoat them.
