Paranormal Activity Trailer

We talked about an early trailer for Paranormal Activity on the Film Junk Podcast about a year and a half ago, and it seems that the film has essentially sat on a shelf since then. For some reason, it is only now with October approaching that Paramount has finally decided to tentatively start building some buzz for the film by putting out a new trailer online and setting an initial limited theatrical release date. I guess their decision to dump Carriers earlier this month has left them without a decent horror release for Halloween.
Paranormal Activity is another low budget horror flick that claims to be found footage in the vein of The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield and REC, although this time around it is partially constructed from surveillance and placed cameras as opposed to having one of the characters carrying around a camera the whole time. The footage depicts a couple in a haunted house being terrorized at night by demonic spirits. Paramount’s marketing scheme for the movie is also interesting in that they have set up a website where you can request to see the movie in your area. The idea is that they hope to pinpoint the cities with the highest demand, although I suspect it will correlate directly to the cities with the highest population. Either way, check out the trailer below and if you like what you see, go make your voice heard! Paranormal Activity opens in a few select cities on September 25th.

I’m not convinced yet. Need to see more to make an opinion on it..
Posted by Andrew | TrailerUnleashed.com on September 18th, 2009I’d recommend seeing it without seeing more. It’s a really effective film, and this trailer already shows a bit more than it should.
Posted by Star on September 18th, 2009The trailer for this is about two years too late. It feels very heavy handed and forced. I could almost hear the marketing team come up with lame ideas for it while watching it.
Posted by Marc on September 18th, 2009The trailer really isn’t scary…wonder if the movie will be. Looks like a poor mans Blair Witch.
Posted by 1138 on September 20th, 2009I like ghost stuff like this (Japanese movies are better), but I get the feeling I’d be very disappointed by it. One giveaway, there is no genuine fear or discomfort…more like “just say the lines like you were”. I’ll wait until its a $10 DVD.
