District 9’s Sharlto Copley to Play The A-Team’s Murdock?

As Kasper reported earlier this week, Rampage Jackson is apparently now confirmed to be playing B.A. Baracus in Joe Carnahan’s A-Team movie, but there’s still one major character left to be cast, and that is the role of the team’s pilot, Capt. H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock. Played by Dwight Schultz in the original series, Murdock is known for being quite literally insane, as he escapes from a mental institution in order to help out on missions.

So who could possibly play such a fun and over-the-top role? Well, according to Blackfilm.com, an offer has gone out to Wikus Van De Merwe himself, District 9’s Sharlto Copley. Supposedly he has yet to accept, and while this is still just a rumour right now, it seems like a pretty awesome choice in my opinion. I loved Copley’s performance in D-9, and considering it was his first major role on screen, I can’t wait to see him try something else. I think he definitely has the range to pull this off, and he looks the part too. Man, what a strange cast this is turning out to be! Veteran Liam Neeson, cool guy Bradley Cooper, a UFC fighter, and now a South African newcomer. Weird. What do you think, is Sharlto Copley the perfect man to play Murdock?

  1. another site had woody harrelson as up for the role I think he would be much better.

  2. This could be interesting. He was really good in D9 and had that funny then serious but still straining to understand (in a funny sort of way) aspect which is probably going to be key for Mad Dog.

  3. What the fuck, is this real? i’m so sick to death of this movie being cast & recast this is the worst news yet, he can’t act for shit just look at district 9.

  4. i loved him in D9. but that was mostly improvisation. it’d be interesting to see him in an actual role where he delivers from a written script.

  5. NO he Sucked ASSSSSSSSSS!

  6. Shut up Machete, you are talking out of your ass.

It’s an inspired choice for sure. I think he got the goods to pull it off.
