Weekly Movie Poster Round-Up: Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Road, Rambo V: The Savage Hunt

Movie posters… we love to find ‘em, and you love to look at ‘em. Some of the latest posters submitted for your approval this week include the first one for Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, two posters for John Hillcoat’s The Road, and another one for Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. That’s not all though, we’ve also got a look at the very first promotional one sheet for Rambo V (now apparently subtitled “The Savage Hunt”), plus an airbrushed Ricky Gervais in The Invention of Lying, and also the first poster for the Michael Jackson concert film This Is It.
Which of these posters (if any) would you hang on your wall? Which ones are graphic design disasters? Check out the full gallery after the jump.

It should have been called

The Rambo 5 one is just fan art.
Posted by Slushie Man on September 9th, 2009If the Rambo V one is not fan art it is crap. Even if it is fan art it is crap. But I agree it looks like fan art because they are showing an image from the last movie. And I hope they bring Rambo back to a small town setting – like the first.
The AGE OF STUPID is the best poster design here.
Posted by BigHungry on September 9th, 2009According to AICN, it’s not fan art, but it’s just a promo image since the movie hasn’t been shot yet.
Posted by Sean on September 9th, 2009I’m going to have to find out more about The Age Of Stupid. The poster’s intriguing.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox poster isn’t very easy on my eyes.
Are they really going with the Rambo vs. The Genetic beast premise? The poster looks like a grade 9 graphic arts project.
Brief interviews of Hideous Men… would that happen to be based on the book of short stories by the late David Foster Wallace? Could be interesting though I confess I haven’t read that yet, only his novel Infinite Jest which was smart, bizarre, and funny, but in my opinion, unfilmable.
And on the subject of books, The Road’s looking good. Dreary looking poster.
Posted by Todd S. Gallows on September 9th, 2009Man, I love these weekly installments.
I also love Viggo Mortensen. Even with that hideous beard. <3
Posted by Falsk on September 9th, 2009That’s futra font on the Fantastic Mr. Fox poster right? Regardless, it can’t beat Wes’ best poster of all time The Royal Tenenbaums.
Posted by Drew on September 9th, 2009I like the “Fox” poster though
Posted by Drew on September 9th, 2009rambo an absolute disaster, wacko jacko more for a live tour than a movie (which we know won’t be happening any time soon), lying quite conventional but with a cool looking Rob Lowe and with Gervais amusingly giving a Karl Pilkington look, hideous men quite interesting, would have liked more sparse, atmospheric landscape in the road (simply dying to see that) but i guess they’re selling going for the viggo-star power selling point. seeing bad lieutenant on avant premiere on friday with high hopes. it’s Werner, ’nuff said. poster needs more cage…
Posted by AlexG on September 9th, 2009I’m calling shenanigans on Rambo 5…Stallone is a very smart person, even if most people don’t realize it. I think he’s just having some fun at the expense of fanboys.
Posted by Justice on September 9th, 2009I think its funny that the guy who plays Jim on the office is doing a movie based on the work of David Wallace… since David Wallace is the head of Dunder Mifflin Corporate
Posted by Goon on September 10th, 2009I liked the This Is It poster most, followed by Age of Stupid. Brief Interviews With Hideous Men looks interesting too.
Posted by modesilver on September 10th, 2009Oh and Rambo V poster looks like it belongs in the 80s.

Posted by Big Hungry on September 10th, 2009I would say 80’s VHS cover… I agree.
