Screen Gems Looking To Reboot The Resident Evil Franchise

As the cost of bringing back Milla Jovovich, the star of the Resident Evil franchise, has been rising with every movie, Screen Gems are now thinking about turning the fifth entry (the one after the forthcoming Resident Evil 4: Afterlife) into a reboot of sorts. However they don’t seem to want to force this decision through, leaving it more as a possible solution if Jovovich decides to up her fees once more for the fifth movie. Which is to say, this isn’t the definitive end to the current storyline, but it most likely will be.
So what will a fifth quasi-reboot be about? So far they are calling it Resident Evil Begins, the focus being on a special military unit that fights a powerful supercomputer which has run amok and hundreds of scientists who have turned into flesh-eating monsters after an accident in the lab.
But all that is a whole lot of “what if” and “then what”. The fourth movie has yet to even begin production and will hit theaters about a year from now on August 27, 2010. It is being directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and will be shot in 3D like all the other mediocre horror flicks as of late.

How about reeboot a franchise that was actually good? Oh, wait, they always screw those up. How about not rebooting a shitty franchise, that has a shitty and used up idea, and has been called shitty by the majority of the public?
Posted by Fuck no! on September 8th, 2009Eh, whatever. Just my opinion. Whatever Hollywood does for money is their buisniss. They have all the idiots keeping them alive, so why not? Oh hell, just reboot The Dark Knight. No matter how new it is, it made alot of monye, didn’t it?
And please do not bring back Mila Russianovich. She is ugly, a bad actress, and needs alot of money for her performance. She also looks shitty in a brown fishnet sweater. But who looks good in one of those? Reed, maybe?
HELL YEAH!!

Posted by Fuck no! on September 8th, 2009Ok, i dont think they need to reboot the series thats very retarded to do. the first one made so much money yeah it didnt have enough action or blood like th eothers, but no. RE1 was the beginning of RE2 and RE3 the movie that started off a good franchise. im in love with these films like really and milla j makes it happen without her RESIDENT EVIL is NOTHING i mean NOTHING. but a reboot started fromt he 5th one helll no, RE1 was good it dont need to be remade and id the series end with number four if their gonna remake it startin with number five. so in my opinion i say no to the remake but if milla j does return for the remake i will see it, but i doubt she will, i think she likes it as is. so a remake is a NO. I LOVE RE AND MILLA GO MILLA HOPE YOU KICK SOME UMBRELLA ASS IN NUMBER FOUR
Posted by Jimmy wilson on September 8th, 2009Although they´re not brilliant movies, I´ve always enjoyed them and I do like them for what they are. I don´t think that a reboot would be very different and I´d watch it anyway cause I like these sort of movies.
As for Jovovich, I don´t care if they bring her back or not, I´ve kind of always liked the sidekick females more anyway, like Sienna Guillory. Would love to se someone like Amy Acker do it.
Posted by pcch7 on September 8th, 2009Check out her spread in Purple Magazine that was recently published. So nekked. So hot.
Posted by Shut-Up Ed on September 8th, 2009So, what was the point of bringing her back in anyway? What does she add to the role that 100,000 other starving actresses don’t, besides a pair of saggy tits? Haven’t seen any of the RE movies, but if the reviews are any indication, then a reboot really couldn’t hurt the chances of me seeing an RE movie. The only good movie that I have seen with Milla in it was The Fifth Element… and that was about 15 YEARS AGO.
Posted by Matt on September 9th, 2009I’m a big fan of RE4 and RE5 videogames. I wish the movies were more like the games in story, setting, tone, and production values. Othervise I’d rather burn money and save myself one and a half hours.
