Sarah Connor Chronicles Movie On The Way?

Thomas Dekker, who played John Connor on the now canceled TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, recently spoke to The TV Addict about the show and whether or not it might make a return one way or another. And while this is a question usually answered by actors with either “No comment” or an answer-yet-not-an-answer type of reply, Dekker is actually quite keen on talking about the show.
So what is in store for the show? Nothing really, as Dekker bluntly clears up that everybody has forgotten about the show since the new movie (Terminator Salvation) came out, and that everybody working on the show actually expected it to get canceled when it did. Yeah, well, that probably isn’t going to help the guys career. Canceled or not, it isn’t smart to actually acknowledge that one’s show has or had bad ratings, and saying that everybody has forgotten about it probably isn’t helping the case either.
That aside, Dekker’s dumb comments came after he spilled the beans about there being talk of a movie continuing where the show ended. The movie, which would be a DVD production such as the Battlestar Gallactica flick The Plan, had been thought about for quite a while, with producer James Middleton hoping to get the project up and running. However unlikely that may sound, would there actually be any interest from fans for a DVD continuation? Might this, in the end, pave the way for the show’s resurrection? Chip in with your thoughts in the comments.

Personally, I think the whole Terminator mythology has become massively over-complicated. I could be alone on this, but I really couldn’t care less if they did anything else with this franchise.
Somebody who watched the show, did the Sarah Connor Chronicles fit into the timeline of the movies or was it meant to exist as an entity unto itself?
Posted by JY on September 4th, 2009Not as overbloated as the Matrix, but getting there.
Posted by Tomas on September 4th, 2009I´d pre-order the bluray as soon as possible.. Awesome series cancelled well before it´s time.. Just like Firefly..
JY: TSCC tells an alternative story that starts 2 years after T2 and irradicates T3 and T4.. One could argue though that it fits well between T2 and T4 if you remove T3 from history.
In any case I like TSCC as much as I like T1 & T2 and would love to see a movie or something, like Serenity
Posted by pcch7 on September 4th, 2009I absolutely loved the TV series and a straight to DVD movie picking up where the show left off would be a God send!
Posted by Marc on September 4th, 2009If they could somehow tie up all the loose ends from the finale, it’d be the greatest cleanup act since the Exxon Valdez.
Posted by Maopheus on September 4th, 2009I’d be interested in seeing this as they really screwed the fans over by having a really big cliff-hanger ending. Despite the fact that they likely knew they would not get the chance to see it through.
Posted by Stepen on September 4th, 2009Hi,
1.
You don’t need to care about the career of Thomas Dekker. He makes his way, equal if the “SCC”-movie come (what I and many, many other fans ousisde there hope). He has so many projects currently running (All About Evil, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Slaughter’s Road, perhaps IQ-145-movie), is constantly active on conventions and novie-promoting, has his music – always runs on adrenaline.
As said, he makes his way. Not always only these are the only movie stars, who earn the most money.
2.
What’s dumb about saying what (almost – the fans haven’t clearly forgotten the series) the reality is ?
I think you’re not in the position to judge the interview of Tom in this way. I see it perhaps as a try of Tom to provoke a bit and to generate media interest – how it is his nature (see his self-made video clip short before the cancellation decision).
If it helps and there comes a direct to DVD-movie of the SCC – We will see and hope !
3.
We all know, there very probably will be no resurrection of the series, as high production costs and mediocre ratings prevent it. Only if there will be interest by an genre-channel like SyFy – Who knows ?. But the sets are build down (It’s surely difficult to relaunch a closed series years later.) and the Terminator-Series together with the movies is also almost told out.
But a DVD-movie would be a great present to the fans and a good chance to conclude the SCCs appropriately.
And it will definitely better than “Terminator 4″ !
Posted by Patrick on September 5th, 2009I’d rather see an actor be honest about this stuff than spew the same PR crap.
I’d love to see a dvd movie to finish up the story. Even if it doesn’t lead to the show coming back, it’d be a great way to tie up loose ends.
Posted by Ben on September 5th, 2009I thought is was a great show, even though you had to keep two separate time lines straight. That in itself was another thing that made it interesting if you look at it that way, how many other franchises wind up doing that? It gave us fans a weekly hit of the killer robots we all have come to love rather than waiting years in between the movies. If that DVD comes out? Yeah I’d buy it. Otherwise the series will rest in peace with all the other series that were killed off before their time: Jericho, Firefly, Journeyman, The Unit to name a few..
Posted by The Cardboard Jedi on September 5th, 2009TSCC was one of the smartest shows on TV. I really hope this happens to tie everything up. And the ratings wern’t THAT low. Dollhouse, Smallville, and even some episodes of Supernatural have all gotten lower ratings in the last year then any episode of Terminator did.
Posted by Slushie Man on September 5th, 2009This would be very cool,,,
I say do it!!!!!!
Posted by 790 on September 6th, 2009Personally, TSCC never really felt like a part of the movie timeline of T1 and T2. It felt more like a TV adaptation than anything else. Not to mention, if it WAS truly supposed to be a continuation of T2, they did a TERRIBLE job screwing up the timeline. That’s why Terminator Salvation felt more like a reboot than a Terminator 4.
Posted by ShenEvil44 on September 6th, 2009I say give us the TSCC straight to DVD movie!!! I am a huge Terminator fan. Until the release of season 2 later this month, you can be entertained with this product: http://www.outstandingmusic.com/product_p/578.htm
Posted by One Man Kru on September 6th, 2009Personally I would love to see TSCC continue with a season 3 and I would also buy the direct to DVD movie if that was the other choice .
There are allot of fans of this smart, sexy , entertaining show. Public outcry will certainly help in reviving this well written and acted show.
As usual , FOX, WB, and Halcyon cut the cord too soon on this show. It seems FOX prefers to put out cheap crappy reality shows, instead of good shows.
There is always a chance the show will come back in some way or form . Family Guy, Serenity/Firefly ,and Jericho are just a few that managed to come back, even if only to tie up the loose ends .
Support TSCC by buying the DVD , join up with the people fighting to get this show back, show the Studios and Networks there are fans of great shows that refuse these shows to be canceled before their time.

I’d love a movie that wrapped the series up and gave us closure. I haven’t bought any of the TV series on Blu-Ray, since I see no point in owning an incomplete story. If a movie came out that tied up the loose ends, I would buy everything.
Posted by Jay Bell on September 9th, 2009I would buy the DVD in a heartbeat. If they used the movie to spark interest in resurrecting the show, FOX might decide to ditch Dollhouse and bring back TSCC in the next year or so.
Of course, the movie could lead into a straight to DVD season, too, and from there… who knows!
Either way, I would be ALL OVER whatever comes out!
Posted by Joe on September 21st, 2009Actually the series doesn’t eliminate the 3rd film at all–it takes place BEFORE the 3rd film after Sarah has died of cancer (something acknowledged in the TV show which means, in fact, that it doesn’t deny the film took place). It fits neatly between films three and four.
Posted by Wayne Klein on September 21st, 2009I don’t watch episodic television, so I waited until Season 2 of SCC came out on DVD and then watched both seasons, back to back. I really liked this show and thought it was well done. I actually like every movie, as well.
I hope they do a direct to DVD movie of SCC. I would definitely buy it!!
Posted by Mike Conway on October 8th, 2009Movie please!
I LOVED LOVED LOVED THE SHOW. T3 and Salvation were both really lame. T:SCC had some killer writing though.
I cant believe they would just end it the way they did. I REALLY REALLY hope they make at least one movie just to tie up the loose ends and get John back to his proper time and such.
Posted by natish on October 13th, 2009Even a set of comics or graphic novels would be nice. Even a regular novel would be fine. SOMETHING!
Posted by natish on October 13th, 2009Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles was amazing I despised T3 and wasn’t very fond of T4 the future it predicted was nothing like what was shown in T1 and T2 I don’t care how many years earlier it was depicting it was still just desert where were the roads of skulls, the millions of Terminator dominating the planet it seemed they were just in a few areas and pretty much left everyone alone most of the time.I’m sorry moan all you want but you have to admit TSCC at least fit in line with the first 2 films and made sense. The reason the franshise is dying is because of T3 and T4 not TSCC. So personaly a film would be amzing it would make up for T3 and T4 and reset the story line like it should have been.
Posted by Joe B on October 14th, 2009I’d love to see a TSCC continuation. I think the show took a while to find its stride, but when it did, it was great… and then it ended on such a huge cliffhanger! I really hope it continues where it left off in any form, either as a straight-to-DVD movie, season 3 TV show, or even a graphic novel.
Posted by Vinnie C on October 25th, 2009OMG! plz they hav 2 i wanna see them tie up the loose ends at least!
Posted by Lenii on November 20th, 2009id be happy wit a movie even if its a small short movie!
i just want 2 no how it ends PLZ!
Yeah a movie would be good i’d like to see what happens or get to know the situation behind the new future timeline they landed in.
as for the movies i liked the first the best it was a simple man vs. machine story and didn’t rely on over-the-top explosions or arnold’s star power since it was one of his first movies. The third was a sacrifice to the hollywood system and the fourth…well it delivered exactly what i would expect from a person who self-applies the name “McG”
ugh
Posted by jon on November 24th, 2009If Summer Glau is in the new movie i will be buying front row tickets to it for a week.
Posted by Shane on December 28th, 2009But also cos i love the series.
I’d kill for a tv movie that would wrap up the awesome season 2 cliff hanger. This show was so much better than the terrible T3.
Posted by holly on January 2nd, 2010Oh God, please give us a movie! Please, God, and the almighty Tv-Movie-powers, please! Or two… or three! I mean, I got to the end of season two and felt like I’d fallen off of a cliff… Onto my head. Not a pleasant sensation. They could totally wrap up what they wanted to do in season 3 and onward in one or two movies, you know? God, I’d kill (no, not really) for some real, honest-to-God news about this! I guess we’ll see once the Terminator franchise has been bought… And we’ll have to see if the original cast will come back… Please, God, please let the cast come back! Thank you, amen.
Posted by Erin on January 19th, 2010This is a terrible waste to take us into the story, which took a while but worth the wait, and once it gets rolling good and everyone knows the characters and leaves you on the edge of your seat!!! And take it away once My Girlfriend and I are addicted…I would at least expect a dvd movie to finish us off with a TSCC BANG!!!So many unanswered questions..FOX is making a big mistake!!! Just look at the movie Salvation, after T3 wouldn’t have gone to theatres to see it if it wasn’t for the TV series..It’s a sad day for the Terminator film and show lovers…FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED,Dollhouse did it,I would preorder the straight to dvd movie or series,JUST MAKE IT YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!!!! I will buy 2 copies and gift one
Posted by Drew on January 27th, 2010I agree a movie to pick up where TSCC left off would be awesome and, is greatly needed
. Truthfully, I died a little inside after watching the finale of season 2.
Posted by Mitch on February 2nd, 2010Bring it back – smart – sassy – sexy – makes you think!!!!!!!!!
Posted by john heck on March 8th, 2010I’m part of an online resistance against the end of SCC called savethescc.com and everyone there thinks that they should go ahead with a movie but what I think is they should make a season three so they can get Cameron’s chip back, go back in time, try stoping skynet and fail, then go into the famous war.
Posted by Stephen on April 9th, 2010i absolutely loved this show especially the second season i check the web every couple of weeks to see if theres anything new been announced but nothing! ive heard they may make a couple of straight to dvd movies which would be awesome but i think its unlikely to be soon if ever!
Posted by matt on May 18th, 2010This was arguably the hottest show in recent memory. I looked forward to watching it each week to see how it unfolded. Some may think the story has run its course, however, I believe there is more to be told. I thought the series did a unique job of bringing more the story than just what the movies present. A straight to DVD film would be fantastic. It would clean up the series finale that pissed off a lot of fans because there was no 3rd season; and it would give the series its due closure. The show was brilliant and FOX was stupid for cancelling. How is it that Terminator is cancelled but Smallville, a story that isn’t even close to Superman’s origin story of growing up and meeting Lois and Lex and more is still on? I love Superman but can’t bring myself to watch a show that is a complete ripoff of one of the greatest superhero’s to ever be imagined.
Posted by David on May 22nd, 2010I would love a movie to come out and clear up all of the loose ends. I was so mad that there was no season 3, especially after John was sent to the future, John Henry and Katherine Weaver went missing, Sarah Connor stayed in the past, and they brought up Danny Dyson but never explained why. I don’t care how it comes back but it needs to come back. There have been too many good shows canceled before their time and this one needs to be finished right.
Posted by Sierra on July 10th, 2010Another great show canx’d before it should have been. It seems every show i ever truly begin to like ends that way, my favorite being firefly. I really hope they do something to tie up the loose ends for the fans after the huge cliffhanger. I know i would buy a straight to DVD movie or mini season or whatever they can come up with. John is in a future where no one has heard of him, John Henry has Cameron’s chip, i dont know whats up with Katherine Weaver…come on!!
Posted by Chris on July 11th, 2010Bring it on. I’ll buy the DVD, and anything else that goes with it. LOVE TSCC. Summer Glau is gorgeous!
Posted by Ray on July 22nd, 2010I can understand how some would feel the franchise became overcomplicated but there’s really only two reasons for that. The being that regarding movies, they have such little time for deep plot development that could draw us in to that near addictive levels and even more importantly, considering that of four films there were three directors and well as other important crew. This of course is like playing cinematic telephone where the first person hears the phrase “cyborg infested future” and the person at the end says “billboard molested teacher.” There are similarities of tone but absolutely no rational connection. A lot of us grew up with Terminator and T2 (thanks James Cameron) and many of us tend to overlook the third and fourth simply because continuitywise they just pull out. TSCC is exactly what fans of the series need, a Cameron-esque series which also has the means to enrich the characters the way they were meant to be. It’s a shame it ended so quickly but television is a business so it’s understandable but they should have taken more time to write a proper ending in stead of rushing the way they did. It almost reminded me of the Supranos. A DVD is a must to bring closure to a series which accomplished so much for auch a great piece of fiction, or at the very least as a thank you all the fans and their support.

Posted by edward M from CA on August 24th, 2010I will see the movie and buy it. I just started watching the Chronicles which I didn’t know about. I really loved it and I’m upset to find out that the show has been canceled. So Bring the movie!!!! or DVD what ever it may be called!!!
Posted by David Batres on September 25th, 2010Loved the show. It really started rolling during the 2nd season I thought. Excited to hear about the movie.
Posted by Awesome Ed on October 22nd, 2010Comcerteza eu compraria , seria ótimo ver um desfecho da serie. Que na minha opinião foi uma das melhores que já assisti
Posted by bruna on November 25th, 2010I have certainly buy it, it would be great to see an outcome of the series. That in my opinion was the best I’ve ever seen
Posted by bruna on November 25th, 2010i am the kind of person who watches very little tv. i think 90% is garbage…(reality especially)… i never had the patients to watch whole tv series… but the two series me and my wife got into were heroes and tscc! and they were both cancelled with no answers!!! if they want to cancel a show then so be it…but networks should be obligated to at least give a proper ending regardless of ratings! these are the reasons i will never again invest my time in another good series…maybe networks should take that into consideration when they want to whine about ratings because they will no longer get mine!!!! ps. fox sucks…except for simpsons…
Posted by rowdy on November 29th, 2010As I have talked with a friend about the storyline of this show, everything revolves around not just time travel, but the effects of when something is changed. In this story, there had to be a original timeline- In T2, Sarah sees herself with her son in a park, judgment day happens and everyone dies, including her and John. Her dreams and nightmares feel real, as if she was living in them. In the original timeline, someone builds skynet, which becomes self-aware and feels humans intend on destroying it so it strikes first. Humans survive and fight back, and are close to defeating the Terminators because of John, so in an act of survival, skynet is able to discover time travel and sends a terminator back to kill Sarah. Kill Sarah, kill John- no resistance. This is where a whole new timeline comes into existence, because now there are people that know what’s going to happen. This also disrupts the normal pattern of life on earth- a man now goes left instead of right, because something is happening where the Terminator is shooting at Sarah, killing people that shouldn’t be dying, and it causes a ripple effect- multiple timelines.
Posted by markus K. on March 24th, 2011This show may not come back as a TV show, but look at FARSCAPE. Ended after four seasons (on a cliffhanger no less) and they came back and made a SciFi Channel TV movie, closed the story. Maybe the Scyfy Channel can do the same thing, make a big TV movie or mini series, tie up the story and end it right. That way, the actors and actresses can do it without committing themselves to another TV series. To do it just to tie up any lose ends and that will be that.
it will be great to see a movie come back to finish it right, But nothing is better than a series starting up again where you could really see what happens step by step nothing is left out. i will be wondering what happens next every week. that is the right way to do a type of story about terminators. there is always new directions you could go. paying with time, going to the future and the past. there is even so much questions like what happens to sarah connor, what about john connor. the lady that came back to the future with john where did she go. what happens to john and the terminator that was protecting him. do they have a
Posted by tamika on April 16th, 2011thing. what does john kurry do to help john connor. if they come out with a movie or better another series it would be big.
I agree with you, Tamika. Bringing the show back would be far better, but if it was going to happen it would have by now. And even IF there’s a chance for the show to come back (like maybe on the ScyFy Channel), it won’t happen soon unless they set the storyline in the future with no Sarah Connor involved. Lena Headey is part of the HBO series GAME OF THRONES, which seems to have a fan base already within two episodes, so she wouldn’t be available to reprise her role as Sarah.
I think that if there are a LOT of fans of TERMINATOR- THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES still out there, then maybe we can bombard the ScyFy Channel with enough E-Mails to make them finally yell “OKAY, OKAY, WE’LL BRING THE SHOW BACK…GEEZ!!”
Anything is possible.
