Spike TV Announces 2009 Scream Awards Nominees
Spike TV has announced the nominees for the 4th annual Scream Awards, their award show dedicated to genre films. Contrary to what the name implies, it’s not just focused on horror; there are also categories for science-fiction, fantasy and comic book movies as well.
While most of these award shows are pretty lame, I have to give Spike props for bringing attention to some smaller flicks that people may not yet have seen. I mean, just for Pontypool to even get mentioned is pretty amazing. Maybe these awards are not entirely based on sponsors and ratings after all. It is a little weird, however, that they hold these awards in October, because it means that films from both 2008 and 2009 are eligible in some cases.

Posted by AlexG on September 1st, 2009If Spirit or Tranformers 2 win anything these awards are automatically declared null and void. Then again, since Spike gave Fight Club the best Guy Movie award, I maintain hope.
Why are people saying that if Transformers or The Spirit wins then the awards have no signifiance? I don’t think they have any significance even if the best films in each category win.
Posted by Booma on September 1st, 2009Anyone who has seen Spike’s videogame awards show (or any show on that channel actually) knows just how completely inane and ridiculous this is going to be. Its even below the MTV movie awards, which is a hard thing to accomplish.
Just wondering, what makes Watchmen fantasy and not sci-fi and Outlander sci-fi and not fantasy?

Posted by Kurt on September 2nd, 2009if twilight gets one reward i swear i’m going to shoot myself in the head….k maybe not, but i’m going to be really angry. thier such stupid movies. weather you like the book or not, it does not change the fact that the movies are boring, pathetic, mundane, and forgetable. with actors who play emotionaly retarted, with no feeling in the stiuation. thier passive and un-blieveable. i just uuugh I HATE TWILIGHT!!

This Saturday, September 12, 2009 in Anaheim, CA, LOST cast members are going to be making a public appearance at Disney’s D23 Convention; additionally some really fantastic pieces of LOST history are going to be on display- including Kate’s toy plane, Hurley’s winning lottery ticket, Locke’s hunting knife, Sawyer’s letter and many other surprises! These items will be on view Thursday September 10 through Sunday, September 13, the entire weekend of D23, and will be up for auction after the series finale in May of 2010.
