The Descent: Part 2 International Trailer

A new trailer for the upcoming follow up to the 2005 horror film The Descent, simply named The Descent: Part 2, has arrived and is looking a whole lot better than the mess released back in February, which looked very unpolished with footage that appeared unedited. However that isn’t the case with the new trailer, which is a lot leaner and meaner.
So even though the new film has a somewhat weaker concept, being about a team of experts fully prepared for horror, and not a tight gang of 5 girls, I still think it has potential to be an above average horror flick, especially comparing to a lot of the other recent releases. But apart from the concept, I have a feeling that what will really make or break this film is how big of an impact director Jon Harris will have upon it. Will he succeed at picking up the reins after Neil Marshall? Leave your thoughts in the comments once you’ve checked out the trailer after the jump.

WTF, talk about a cash grab! This film really didn’t need to be made and the original should have stood on it’s own as a horror masterpiece.
Posted by Marc on August 31st, 2009the sequel will then kind of invalidate the best part of the original- the implication that there’s no monsters, just a woman gone insane…
oh well- so it goes.
Posted by tozo on August 31st, 2009Just watched it at the pre-world-premiere yesterday and – it stinks. Full of plotholes and nothing new to look at. Ok, they upped the gore-factor and started the sequel right where the first one finished, but all in all it´s a boring mess wich tries to repeat all the highlights of the original without even coming close to it.

I was in a cave a few weeks ago and all I could think about was this movie…

…Oh my god. One of the most intense films I have ever seen. A faster pace than the original, and a higher gore factor. However these both worked in the sequels favour. The first film was a HARD act to follow and this easily delivers!

Posted by Bratwurst on September 1st, 2009I have reserved hopes for this sequel, I cannot imagine it being any better than the first. By the look of the trailer even one of the outstanding scenes from the orginal (night vision pan of the girls when the first crawler is seen) is reused.
CowboyH: I hope I feel as strongly about the sequel as you do.

I will watch it. I’m sure the director is aware that there is PRESSURE for him to at least match the original.
