Joss Whedon Beefs Up The Cast For Dollhouse

A fan or not, you gotta give Joss Whedon credit for doing his best to make sure that the forthcoming second season of his show Dollhouse won’t be its last. After the show had a lackluster first season everyone assumed it was going to get canned, but then Fox surprised by giving the show a second season. Whedon has seized the opportunity to pull forth the big guns and make sure that the new season will at the very least have a killer cast.

In recent casting news, Whedon has secured several well known actors to recur on the show, counting both the Oscar winning Keith Carradine who will appear for multiple episodes as a rich businessman and Alexis Denisof, a name who will most likely only ring a bell if you are a fan of Whedon’s Angel or Buffy The Vampire Slayer series, where he played the role of Wesley Wyndham-Price. Now Denisof will once again work with Whedon, this time around appearing on Dollhouse as a US Senator determined to put down the nefarious organization.

But these two aren’t the only known faces to join in, Whedon has also brought back an old Firefly cast member, the Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles star Summer Glau, who will become employed in the organization in the coming season. Not much is known about her part besides from the fact that she has some sort of history with Eliza Dushku’s character, which is good enough for me. Two strong females who have a beef with each other usually makes for good TV, right?

  1. I am currently watching the first season and it keeps getting better and better.
I can not wait to finish the first season so I can get ready for the 2nd.

  2. The only reason I watched the first season on blu-gay was so I´d be up to speed when Glau comes in.. The first 5-6 episodes are below par but then it picks itself up a bit.. It´s no TSCC but I have hope, because of Whedon and the cast. Could be a very cool second season

  3. Is the girl in the image Miho from Sin City? If so, she’s still got it!

  4. Last year I thought Summer Glau would have been a better pick for the main character than Eliza Dushku. Guess this is the next best thing.

  5. yeah Glau or even Amy Acker would have been better..Glau would actually be quite perfect for that role but she was already on TSCC so it would have been impossible I guess.. And I´d rather have her on TSCC

  6. I wonder if Joss wrote the main character with Glau in mind at first?

  7. lol, no the girl in the image is Summer Glau and she get´s a lot hotter throughout the show =).. And no, I don´t think he wrote the character for Glau, he must have known that she was signed for TSCC

  8. Whedon wrote the series specifically for Dushku.

Yeah, Miho(Devon Aoki)has more alien type eyes when I now compare the two.

  10. Hoping for many seasons of dollhouse.
Its been too long since Mutant Enemy Productions has taken over television.
Im sure we will see many more great actors from previous Joss shows.
    I cant wait.

What if they brought back Tom Lenk?
    Andrew from Buffy.

  11. I love Dollhouse! So far I’m convinced, that the Network ruined the pilot and they didn’t air the most interesting eppy of the first season. Now that they let Joss do what he wants, I’m sure it’ll get better (with proper advertising hopefully).
Btw, let me just say – I don’t like any of Joss’es previous shows, Firefly was ok, but too… westerny for my taste, Buffy was too cheap in both sets and story and I haven’t seen Angel. So I have no special love for Joss Whedon, but I do have one for Dollhouse :)

  12. Summer Glau is robotic and could be only good as a doll before being imprinted, because being a doll is just part of the job, and not all the job. On Firefly she was psychotic on Sarah Connor Chronicles she was a machine. I think Eliza is doing a good job and is definitely a better actor than Summer.
Amy Acker is another story though, she is super. I am very excited about the Alexis Denisof appearance, this is a treat for the whedon fans.
