Rob Zombie’s The Haunted World of El Superbeasto Red Band Trailer

Earlier this year we reported on the fact that Rob Zombie’s raunchy animated movie The Haunted World of El Superbeasto had run into some legal problems with Starz Media, which had delayed the release indefinitely. Finally back in June the DVD was officially announced, and now a trailer for the flick has appeared online. I should note that although there had been a short 30 second trailer floating around for the past month or so, this is the full red band trailer.
It certainly looks every bit as twisted as we’ve come to expect from Rob Zombie, but it also looks like a lot of fun. “When evil rises up, he stands erect!” The story revolves around El Superbeasto (Tom Papa), a washed up mexican wrestler who must fight the evil Dr. Satan (voiced by Paul Giamatti), while the art style looks like something in between Ren & Stimpy and Spongebob Squarepants (which kind of makes sense considering that co-director Doug Lawrence worked on both of those shows). The DVD and Blu-ray will contain deleted and alternate scenes plus a Superbeasto Contra Animatico feature. Look for it in stores on September 22nd; check out the red band trailer after the jump.

Nice… It looks fun
Posted by Drew on August 19th, 2009Zombie has to be one of the worst directors in the history of Hollywood….right up there with Uwe Boll and Bret Ratner.

Posted by Mike on August 19th, 2009I’m a reluctant fan of Zombie’s films, but I detest Adult Swim type cartoons and think this looks like an awful piece of shit.
Posted by Jon Rocks on August 19th, 2009If you’re gonna completely unsuccessfully bite John Kricfalusi’s style why not just hire HIM to co-write/co-direct this? Or better yet, just give HIM the money to make his own straight to DVD cartoon flick. He’s funnier and probably WAY raunchier than this garbage. I at least expected this to be surrealistic or kinda weird, but it just looks generic and lame. Give me some Venture Bros. any day…or even the Ripping Friends for that matter…
blechh…
Posted by Fatbologna on August 19th, 2009I agree with every comment..except the first one.
Posted by Soop27 on August 20th, 2009LOL, Shut the hell up you dipshits! This is one of the coolest movies ever. If you watch and dont like it, then shove it!
Posted by Chris on October 7th, 2009I put this on today and could only sit through about 12 minutes of it. I could go on and on for hours about how it succeeded to disgust me on every level.
-Childish and zippy, kazoos, whistles, horns, bells and crashes that were all done with seriously Exaggerated Spongebob style voice overs.
-A meatloaf style rock opera soundtrack with lots of horribly overdone “classic rock” hits like Mr. Roboto & Everybody’s workin’ for the weekend.
-Vulgarity for vulgarity’s sake… you know, to make an animaniacs movie stylized by R.Z. into something “adult”.
-Lack of any originality whatsoever… Nazi Werewolfs!?… I see Robs been busy playing “Castle Wolfenstein” I take it…
-Lack of any kind of plot… unless you feel that Tiny Toons has a plot.
-Bringing every single character from his previous works into this putrid pile of Deputy Dog vomit (Dr. Satan, Capt. Spaulding, Banjo & Sullivan, Michael Myers, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
-The very fact that Rob Zombie has managed to dumb his material down PAST the point of pre-pubescence… all the way down to “The Powerpuff girls”.
There is simply no doubt why this movie slithered it’s way under the radar, straight to DVD. If this had been released in the theater, there would have been at least 75% of the audience getting up, walking out and demanding their money back. This would have caused the other %25 of R.Z. fanboys & girls to say to themselves… “Hey … wait a minute! This movie SUCKS hugh?!” “RABBEL! RABBEL! RABBEL!”
By quietly releasing it straight to DVD, it now becomes a “cult classic”. Watching it in the privacy of your own home also means that you can freely ingest enough anti-depressants, alcohol, and street drugs to really see the “Art” in it and to get maximum enjoyment from all of the pretty colors and funny noises.
ZIP! BOOOING! WHAH WHah whah….. DUPE DEE DOO! CRASH!
“Whooow man. Did you just see that? CrAzY sounds and colors dawg. Zombie’s like a genius or whatever. Hey man can we turn on Teletubbies after this is over?”
Worst… Movie … EVER!
