Werner Herzog’s My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done Trailer

Werner Herzog has two films premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this year, which, as you can probably guess, has at least one of us very excited. Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is probably the higher profile of the two being that it is a remake of sorts and it also stars Nicolas Cage, but the other film is perhaps even more intriguing to me. My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done is a Herzog film based on the true story of Mark Yarovsky, a San Diego man who was cast in a stage production of Sophocles’ Orestes and started to act the story out in real life, eventually killing his mother with a sword.

If you know Herzog, you can guess that it will probably only be very based loosely on truth, and in fact, he is quoted as saying that “about 70 percent of the script is false”. The movie is also produced by David Lynch, which further adds to the probability of a serious head trip. Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) stars, along with Willem Dafoe, Chloe Sevigny, Grace Zabriskie, Irma P. Hall, Michael Pena, Brad Dourif, and Udo Kier. 1. Cool I’ve meet both Michael Shannon and Chloe Sevigny; him as a crew member on the short film Zamboni Man, her in Brooklyn thru my brother in law…will be interesting to see them work together

  2. I will check this out for sure even though I find the title silly sounding. I assume its some sort of reference to the play?
