Are You Ready for a LEGO Movie?

Looks like the whole “movie based on a toy line” trend is only going to get worse after the relative success of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Warner Brothers have announced plans to develop a movie based on the world’s most popular building block toy, Lego! Dan and Kevin Hageman (Hotel Transylvania) will write the script, which is being described as both a family comedy and an action adventure that combines CG and live actors. Dan Lin (Terminator Salvation, Shorts, Sherlock Holmes) will produce.
To a certain extent, a Lego movie kind of makes sense; there have been a number of fun Lego-based video games, although they also combined popular movie franchises such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Batman. On the other hand, studios have got to realize that there’s a big difference between Transformers and G.I. Joe, which have established characters and a built-in storyline, and some of these other toys (ie. View-Master). What do you think, can a Lego movie actually work, or is this just more ludicrous nonsense siphoning money and resources from Hollywood?

I’d expect it to be an attempt at Toy Story, with legos instead of other toys and live action humans instead of all cg(something I feel they should have done with Toy Story in the first place)
