Weekly Movie Poster Round-Up: Avatar, Gatchaman, Solomon Kane
![]()
It’s time for your weekly look at the latest movie posters that have been released around the web, starting with what is apparently the first official one-sheet from James Cameron’s Avatar… consider me underwhelmed. Also worth checking out is the new poster for Imagi’s CG-animated Gatchman flick, a rad new poster for Steven Soderbergh’s The Informant, and a terrible poster for the upcoming comedy Motherhood. What is going on with Uma Thurman’s career?
So which ones are hits and which ones are misses? Get a good look at all these posters, and more, after the jump.

Posted by Mike on August 6th, 2009An adult woman with a soother in her mouth? Outrageous!
Posted by James on August 6th, 2009I can’t wait for Motherhood, and the film looks good too!
Posted by Colin on August 6th, 2009Could Rachel McAdams look any hotter in the Sherlock Poster? I doubt it… Also the Solomon Kane poster looks good.
Posted by Ben on August 6th, 2009i am so excited for sherlock holmes. even if there is a bromance thing going on between holmes and wattson, it’s still going to be bad ass
Posted by rick on August 6th, 2009the old stories were bromances
Posted by Mike on August 6th, 2009Is ‘New York, I Love You’ similar to ‘Paris, J’taime’?
Posted by Bee on August 6th, 2009Yes, it’s a collection of short films by multiple directors. From the same producers I believe.
Posted by Sean on August 6th, 2009I´m really looking forward to Solomon Kane
Posted by pcch7 on August 6th, 2009no love for Avatar!? blasphemy! I think that one looks the best followed by the Sherlock Holmes ones.
Posted by modesilver on August 6th, 2009So many of these posters are lacking in I guess originality. I don’t know I suppose these guys know what they are doing and making people think of other movies is probably a good way to grab attention but yeah Avatar looks like maybe it’s a poster for the long awaited live action The Snorks.
Posted by Ian on August 6th, 2009The more I see from Avatar the less excited I get. The character designs look weak and way to animation like. If I didn’t know better I would say that the poster was for an animated fantasy film.
Posted by Swarez on August 7th, 2009^^^^^^^AGREE, this and the recent toy release showing repeated Cameron engineering ideas has me worried this will not be the most Awesome Life Changing Film Event since Star Wars that the secrecy has portrayed.
Posted by rus in chicago on August 7th, 2009^^^^^^^Agree too with Avatar and getting less excited for it with each reveal and the worst part of the poster is (From the director of “Titanic”). That makes no sense of having that tag at the top of the poster (totally different movie) And I think there is a back lash still on Titanic. And for a movie that is talking about how great the cgi is – that poster looks very cgi to me.
The posters at the bottom do not do much for saying what movie the posters are for…. You have to look for the Sherlock Homes site at the bottom to know.
Gatchaman – The poster just makes me think – I would rather see a live action movie of this.
Also Solomon Kane – hum the trailer will determine my wanting to see this but I do right now from the poster.
The Informant – is the best designed poster by far and it hits the tone of the trailer.
Posted by Big Hungry on August 8th, 2009Well putting Titanic on the Avatar poster makes all the sense in the world from a marketing stand point. Titanic is still THE biggest movie of all time and it’s just the fanboys who hate it and those are only a fraction of the audience for it.
Posted by Swarez on August 10th, 2009Avatar (2009) movie have been out standing and most of the movie fans are too likely to see this movie because it has come up with mind blowing adventure how ever I have seen this movie trailer to day and it was a good movie review coming alone with the trailer I think it was a good thing for movie fans of Avatar (2009) to find a trailer easily
