I am wondering if the reason this movie won over Avatar is because the ‘voters’ felt obligated to vote for it. For example, The Passion of the Christ isn’t the type of movie that you would cast votes on because of the subject matter. So I wonder if the voters decided to make it win because it would offend too many people if Avatar (a VERY fictional movie) won instead. Too many people would take it personally and say that Hollywood doesn’t take real life matters seriously, or something.

This movie was terrible!! So much hype for such a lame movie. I wish I can get the two hours of my life back. Horrible opening scene it looked like Thompson (I think that was his name) rolled his ankle then all of a sudden he is dead? Ending just as bad.

For me, disappointing, nothing more than a ‘B’ movie. Most likely it fit into the political genre of the voters.

Not real bad, but not that good.

Piece of shit. I have watched the same crap on cable over the last 7 years. Angry with myself for spending $20/ to see this film in the cinema. The popcorn was good though. The film made the advertisements all seem so exciting.

I am over 70, perhaps that’s why I remember the Great War Movie, ” The Caine Mutiny ” c. 1954. The author,Herman Wouk
clearly states at the beginning of the movie, ” This is not about a mutiny. There never was a mutiny in the U.S. Navy. This is how certain characters react under stress to a particular situation.” or words to that effect. The same holds true for the Hurt Locker.
Keeping the above in mind. The Hurt Locker was excellent.

The movie was absurd! I tried to hang in there to see what could have possibly won this movie best picture over Avatar or Precious. The film was a series of one farcical element after another, many of which have been outlined above. By the time the three main characters went running into the dark to chase some phantom bomber in the night, I could take no more! The film was an insult to the men and women who served their country, and an insult to the sensibilities of anyone who has knowledge of the sufferings of war.

What a load of rubbish!! if that film won an Oscar well maybe the duck WC advert stand a chance next year. It is just another GI Joe, “private superhero” film in the great Rambo tradition, no depth just a really unrealistic story and contrary to Rambo you can’t even laugh at it so its just plain boring. Although not the best story Avatar has this for itself that it is groundbreaking (3D) and entertaining.
