Hot Tub Time Machine Trailer Starring John Cusack and Craig Robinson

When it was first announced earlier this year that there was a movie in development called Hot Tub Time Machine, I don’t think anyone believed that it would actually get made. But hey, let’s not forget, we are living in the post-Snakes on a Plane era, and thus, the first trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine has finally arrived online. So guess what? It’s happening!
To be honest, I like the goofy concept, which simply involves a group of four grown-up friends who accidentally travel back in time to the ’80s to relive their teenage years. I also like the cast, which includes John Cusack, Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry and Clark Duke, plus Chevy Chase, Lizzy Caplan and Crispin Glover. The problem is, this movie really could go either way, and the trailer looks like it was simply thrown together in a couple hours (on the plus side, it is red band, so John Cusack gets to drop a few F-bombs). I am guessing this will appeal mainly to the Harold & Kumar crowd, but who knows, it could end up being the sleeper hit of 2010! Hot Tub Time Machine is directed by Steve Pink (Accepted) and hits theatres on February 26th. Soak up the trailer after the jump.

“It must be some kinda… hot tub time machine.” Only Craig Robinson could possibly deliver potentially shitty lines like that without making me turn this off.
…or maybe Greg, if only because he has the voice of a Robinson-Rogen love-child.
Posted by Winston SanCarlos on July 24th, 2009Isn’t Clark Duke too young to be a friend of the other 3??… just saying..

Thread canceled.
Posted by Shut-Up Ed on July 24th, 2009Baalachi, I’m too old to be a friend of Sean and Jay’s.
I don’t think there are enough comedies with mismatched friends of different ages. There’s a breakout hit waiting to be made based on the friendship of a man-child and his teen-aged buddy. I’m telling you that it will start a new trend in buddy movies! We may have to wait for bromance movies to run their course though.

Posted by Big Hungry on July 25th, 2009Ed: Your opinion on movie-related matters is still welcome and valid. The reason I shut down the other thread was because it was getting too personal and it was pretty off-topic. I realize it’s partially my fault for even bringing up a topic like adoption, but you have to realize that if you’re going to jump into something as sensitive as abortion with no room or understanding for differing viewpoints, it’s going to be a problem.
Posted by Sean on July 25th, 2009It can’t be any worse than that Miss March movie Craig Robinson was in. That’s my new standard for terrible comedy movies.
Posted by J on July 25th, 2009looks like a waste of a great cast.

I don’t doubt it. The film is still in production so I’m assuming they just shot a quick trailer for Comic-Con. I’m hopeful for this still, it could be great.
Posted by RJ on July 25th, 2009I am seriously crazy excited for this. Steve Pink is Cusack’s longtime friend and writing partner and he wrote the screenplays for High Fidelity and Grosse Point Blank. To me this looks like it is obviously mocking stupid comedies, and that kind of snarky self-awareness is exactly the kind of John Cusack I love.
Posted by Matt Gamble on July 25th, 2009The only reason I am seeing this movie is because Lizzy Caplan is spectacular.
