First Photo of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in Iron Man 2
This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly has a preview of the San Diego Comic Con and a cover story about Iron Man 2, which includes the very first images of Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow. While I don’t know anything about the character other than the fact that she is a Russian spy, I am pretty sure these images are going to get a lot of people even more excited about the movie.
Who knew Scarlett Johansson would look good in black leather? Go figure. Let’s just hope she can make up for her terrible performance in The Spirit. Comic book fans, speak up… does ScarJo look the part or what?

Posted by AdamH on July 16th, 2009She’s an ok choice as long as she can pull of a Russian accent. She defintely LOOKS Russian.
My only problem is that she has a sort of Marilyn Monroe, classic, pin-up type figure (which is fantastic – 100% better than Megan Fox or anyone else people have been fooled into believeing are “hot” by the media) but the Black Widow is supposed to be a fit, super-spy, ass-kicker – not a soft and shmushy pin-up.
It’s an OK choice. I get it – but I feel like whining.

Now she just seems like your runofthemill movie actress in every runofthemill hollywood movie. Never got on board with all the fuss about her starting a few years ago. I’m sure she’d be crestfallen about my opinion.

Posted by Kyriacos on July 17th, 2009It is harsh to criticise Scarlett for her performance in the Spirit, you can only really work with what is given to you and The Spirit was a disaster, I don’t see what more she could’ve done in such a terrible role in a terrible film, nor do I see how she was any worse than Samuel L. Jackson who was more irritating than comical. The main problem I think Scarjo has is her film selection, not her acting ability. Granted, there probably are quite a few more promising young actresses, but I think Scarlett really has something to offer other than her looks. I don’t think there is any debate over her best roles, in Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring, A Love Song for Bobby Long, Ghost World and Match Point. She’s been in quite a wide range of projects, most of which were average at best, however she is still only 24 and will have plenty of opportunities to display her talent.
