Monday Morning Box Office Report: Bruno Grabs America by the Kugelsack

Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno managed to take the box office crown over the weekend, but although it had a slightly higher debut than Borat, it also opened on over 2500 more screens. Considering the fact that Bruno also had one of the largest Friday to Saturday drops ever, it seems likely that it will be a flash in the pan and drop completely off the map over the next couple of weeks. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen held down the #2 and #3 positions with slightly lower numbers than expected, but box office attendance for the entire weekend was relatively slow. Public Enemies and The Proposal rounded out the Top 5, meanwhile The Hangover is still making money, now well beyond the $200 million mark and becoming the fourth highest grossing movie of 2009.
