Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Movie in Development

Looks like Sony is bringing another one of their successful video game franchises to the big screen, and in this case, it’s one that could potentially make for a solid action/adventure flick. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, developed exclusively for the Playstation 3 by Naughty Dog, is a swashbuckling treasure hunting story in the vein of Indiana Jones focusing on Nathan Drake, a descendant of the explorer Sir Francis Drake, who is in search of the lost treasure of El Dorado. From what I’ve seen, one of the things that makes the game so good is the dialogue and the voice acting, which is of exceptional quality. These are definitely great characters I’d love to see brought to life by established Hollywood actors.
Columbia Pictures has hired Kyle Ward to write the script, who seems to be the next Justin Marks since he is quickly carving out a career doing video game adaptations. He also wrote the Kane & Lynch movie, which will star Bruce Willis, and was just hired to write Hitman 2 earlier this week. (Yes that’s right… they’re making a Hitman sequel. I have no idea why.) Avi Arad will produce along with Charles Roven and Alex Gartner (Get Smart, The Bank Job, God of War). Are you excited about an Uncharted movie? Check out the E3 trailer for the video game sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, after the jump.
