There’s a little movie opening this weekend that you might have heard of called Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and based on some of the early box office numbers, it seems poised to break a few records regardless of the poor critical reception. Of course, if for some strange reason you’re not into giant robots, there are a few other alternatives hitting theatres this weekend. The only other wide release is the new Nick Cassavetes film My Sister’s Keeper starring Abigail Breslin and Cameron Diaz, but in select theatres we also have Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker and Jennifer Lynch’s Surveillance, in addition to Stephen Frears’s Cheri. Are you planning to see Transformers 2, or will you spend your money elsewhere this weekend?

  1. I want to see The Hurt Locker so I can claim to have seen a good movie this week, but since I live in one of the most culturally devoid metropolitan ares in the Western hemisphere, I’ll have to make do with being a curmudgeon.

  2. Can’t wait to see Transformers this weekend.

  3. I already checked out Surveilliance. There is some ham in the acting oven towards the end, but overall a solid film. The seed of David Lynch is strong on the comeback trail.

  4. I saw The Stoning of Soraya M. and it was very powerful! It touched my heart and I felt very informed after! I would recommend this movie to everyone!

  7. POWERFUL MOVIE

I think is a good movie that show an injustice story more than a cultural background, and show as well some women conditions aroun the world.

  8. I just saw the movie! I’ll invite all my friends to watch it. It make me think that we have to join together in order to let the world know about this situation.those women need our help, our voices.

  9. Mercedes and Lupe – same IP
Mar, MCM and Selina – same IP

any particular reason you need people to see Soraya so bad that you’re willing to stuff the ballot box of popular opinion?

  10. The Stoning of Soraya M.

A powerful movie. A must see for all.insightful, enlightening, poignant, truthful, and courageous! For all the women without a voice…

Before I saw the movie, I prepared myself for the violence. I knew that it would have a sad ending. This movie is touching. It moves you and it gently brings you to a reality that is rarely seen in our faded eyes. This is one of the movies that are based on true reality, the reality that women still face today which is beyond my imagination.

  11. I saw the trailer for this today. Despite the varied things I’ve heard of it, the trailer is indeed quite intriguing.
