Britney Spears Eyes Role in WWII Time Travel Movie

If, like me, you believe that Britney Spears’s performances in Crossroads and the TV shows Will & Grace and How I Met Your Mother only began to show the extent of her true acting potential, you’re going to be pretty excited about this next juicy rumour. Word on the street is that the music/tabloid phenom is in talks to star in a relatively serious drama called The Yellow Star of Sophia and Eton that just might give Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds a run for its money.
According to The National Ledger, she has been offered the lead role of Sophia LaMont, who creates a time machine and travels back to World War II where she falls in love with a Jewish man in a concentration camp. From the sounds of it, the love story also has a tragic twist that involves some evil Nazis or something… go figure. Is it just me or does this sound like an episode of Quantum Leap? While I have no idea how reliable this story is, or who the people are behind this project, but I think we can all agree that it’s bound to be a winner. But in all seriousness… do you think Britney Spears might actually have an acting career ahead of her? (Thanks to Adam H. for the heads up.)

Great Scott!
As for an acting career, maybe.
Posted by Nick D on June 25th, 2009As for a successful acting career, absolutely not.
There is no way she has an acting career ahead of her
but the thought of Britney Spears killing Nazis in an over the top action movie sounds awesome
Posted by AdamH on June 25th, 2009didn’t Tarantino want to cast her in a remake of Faster Pussycat Kill Kill?
Posted by Mike on June 25th, 2009Is that true Mike? That’d be pretty sweet
Posted by AdamH on June 25th, 2009Yup. She was part of his “Dream casting” and this was right after she went bat-shit crazy and shaved her head…i’d watch that movie.
Posted by Mike on June 25th, 2009Nice. Id be there!
Posted by AdamH on June 25th, 2009Britney’s acting career? Not a chance.
Posted by Matt on June 25th, 2009The film plot sounds really ridiculous.
It sounds amazing.
Posted by Greg on June 25th, 2009please god let this get made … yeah, i know it won’t …
Posted by Joel on June 25th, 2009If Jessica Simpson can be diluted into thinking that she should act, then this one’s not gonna be any different. There are a lot of people who would pay to see her do anything, and I don’t see how a weird and cheesy sci-fi drama like this could fail. (If it ever gets made, that is.) I think she could have a successful acting career, but not a critically acclaimed one.
Posted by Matt on June 26th, 2009I think it sounds great. Although the movie’s plot sounds a tad silly, this will give her a chance to really show any acting chops she might have. Plus, after all these years Britney is finally starting to win me over.
