Monday Morning Box Office Report: Sandra Bullock Still America’s Sweetheart

It seems that the combination of Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds was impossible for audiences to resist this past weekend, as the The Proposal took the #1 spot at the box office with a solid $34 million debut. (Then again, maybe it was all Betty White.) The Hangover and Up dropped to the #2 and #3 positions respectively, while Year One had a mediocre (though not horrible) opening at just over $20 million. The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 rounded out the Top 5. Will anything be left standing next weekend once giant robots blow it all apart?
1. The Proposal — $34.1M
2. The Hangover — $26.9M
3. Up — $21.3M
4. Year One — $20.2M
5. The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 — $11.3M
6. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian — $7.3M
7. Star Trek — $4.7M
8. Land of the Lost — $3.98M
9. Imagine That — $3.1M
10. Terminator Salvation — $3.07M

Will Transformers make more than the rest of the top ten combined next weekend?
It is out here in Ireland already and I saw it a few days ago. I really enjoyed it, more so than the first one.
Posted by Stephen on June 22nd, 2009Not that rotten tomatoes is correct but 39% for Transformers 2 and the first one ranked at 57%. So has the visuals worn off the reviewing public already from the first one? I’m really curios to see what Gi Joe gets on Rotten Tomatoes. I want to see what the box office reports show at the end of the Summer.
