Uwe Boll’s Stoic Trailer Starring Edward Furlong

Poor Edward Furlong. A few weeks after Terminator Salvation hits theatres, continuing the successful franchise that he was once a part of, his latest film will go direct to DVD in the U.K. Directed by Uwe Boll, Stoic is based on the true story of an inmate at a German juvenile detention hall who was brutally tortured, forced to eat his own puke and hang himself by his cellmates. So this is what it has come to.
Some have called this Boll’s first attempt at serious filmmaking, but if you ask me, it’s just another Postal, with Boll trying to get attention by using shock value alone. As expected, it looks terrible. However, Furlong is also starring in Boll’s upcoming film, Darfur, which is apparently about American journalists confronting the atrocities in Darfur. Could that be the movie that will finally legitimize Boll as a director? Nah, I doubt it. Stoic is out on June 22nd in the U.K., but as far as I know, a North American release is still TBA. Check out the trailer below.

Can you tell me exactly what looks terrible in this trailer? I’m not seeing it.
Posted by Drew on June 9th, 2009That is a distractingly ugly ONE SHEET for the film. And a first for ‘floating fists’ I believe!
Posted by Kurt on June 9th, 2009looks better then most of his crap, strangely. Would be odd if the only decent film he’s made goes direct to DVD due to content and subject matter.
Posted by PEter on June 9th, 2009Doesn’t look bad. Need to see more, though, to see if it warrants approximately 90 minutes more.
Posted by mrbenning on June 9th, 2009I thought a trailer is created to entice people to see the movie. That did the exact opposite for me.

Uwe Boll is doing a movie about DARFUR? That is a subject that demands attention from a really serious director, someone acclaimed that took take the film to Oscar-level and get the issue out there. Uwe Boll will make it a joke! Someone please step in and save that film before it’s too late!
Posted by Ashley on June 9th, 2009I think this movie looks way worse than Boll’s other films. The other ones were bad (full disclosure: I’ve only seen parts of one or two of them) but at least they were just cheesy low brow entertainment. This movie looks like it’s trying to be all deep and serious, and… UGH.
Kurt: It’s actually the DVD cover, not a one sheet. But yeah, ugly as hell.
Posted by Sean on June 9th, 2009I’m just not seeing it, i’m not saying this looks like the best shit ever, but I mean what is it that makes you think this looks so horrible? The only thing I can see is the acting, otherwise I just think it looks bland and throwaway, but not something worth all the hate. I think it’s just the Uwe Boll name that is generating this.
Posted by Drew on June 10th, 2009Agreed Drew. This looks OK and in no way does this look terrible. There’s one film of his that I’m sort of wanting to see and that’s Tunnel Rats which seems to have disappeared. That looked pretty good and apparently is as well.
Posted by swarez on June 10th, 2009uwe boll is the best man to make a movie about darfur,
he is the only serious director out there,
steven spielberg is a joke and he should be killed,
uwe boll is like michael jackson

long live uwe boll
