Shrink Trailer Starring Kevin Spacey

It’s been a long time since Kevin Spacey has starred in anything worthwhile. (let’s face it, it’s been downhill ever since American Beauty) but it’s possible that Jonas Pate’s indie dramedy Shrink is just what his career needs right about now. He plays Henry Carter, a celebrity psychiatrist who suffers from a breakdown of his own. A trailer for the movie has hit the web, and while it’s not laugh out loud funny, his dry, sarcastic delivery seems to work for the character. Then again, maybe it was just the Sufjan Stevens song that made me think positive thoughts about it. Shrink hits select theatres on July 24th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

finally, a film to get spacey back in the game. I love spacey, he’s one of my favorite actors. And it’s tought because there will never be a film like American beauty. One of those once in a life time parts in a once in a life time movie. Hopefully this can get him going again.
Posted by Rick on June 4th, 2009i, for one, hope there will never be another film like american beauty. yuck. also, re: sufjan stevens … in 2009, you know a film is getting kinda desperate when they throw that song in the trailer. that’s the point where the audience is supposed to start thinking “oh, so there’s some poignant shit gonna go down in this movie”.
Posted by Joel on June 4th, 2009I love Sufjan Stevens but the use of that song just screamed out to me that they desperatley want to be labled “Indie Drama”
Posted by Drew on June 4th, 2009I also think the Sufjan Stevens song is like an ad exec screaming “please, puhleaze think that this is one of those charming and occasionally pretentious indie dramas that people love so much these days!!!”
Good song…it’s just played out in the trailer game.
