Grace Red Band Trailer

When it comes to horror movies, the ones that end up being the most frightening experiences are often the ones that push the envelope in some way and go places that no other movie has gone before. The problem is that sometimes when a filmmaker is trying too hard to be shocking, it can backfire and end up being totally contrived. When it’s done with some talent and skill, however, the effect is intense and unforgettable. Paul Solet’s Grace is a movie that has been getting a lot of buzz at festivals this year that would appear to fall into the latter camp. After having watched the red band trailer, I think I can now understand what all the fuss is about.
The movie is about a pregnant woman who loses her baby but insists on carrying it to term. Miraculously, the baby ends up being born and appears healthy, until she realizes that the child has an appetite for human blood. Clearly this is not for the squeamish… in fact, I am questioning whether or not this is something I could handle myself. The 2007 French film Inside also had a pregnant woman as its main character and was reportedly quite brutal because of that. While I understand that not everyone wants to subject themselves to movies like this, there’s no denying that people watch movies to feel things outside of their normal lives. This looks like a movie that you feel in your gut the whole way through. I don’t think the Grace will be getting a theatrical release, but Anchor Bay plans to release it on DVD by the end of the year. Check out the red band trailer below… if you dare!

Bloodsucking babies? The depraved in me is down with that.
Posted by Byron on June 2nd, 2009I don’t know…this movie looks rather infantile.
sorry couldn’t resist.
Actually I’d might rent it. Looks creepy and really disturbed. Horror is fun when you watch it with friends!

Posted by joe on June 2nd, 2009I have been waiting to see this film for some time now. I have seen Inside, own it and wrote a FILM REVIEW for it:

It is IMPOSSIBLE for this film to be more brutal that Inside, believe me. The only film I have seen that beats Inside is Martyrs, the best horror film of the year in my opinion:

If Grace is inventive enough, it might rank third behind Inside. Grace reminds me a little of May actually.
