Surrogates Trailer Starring Bruce Willis

Since everyone’s got Terminator on their minds this week, surely you must be wondering what Jonathan Mostow, the director of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines has been up to lately… right? Yeah, me neither. Nevertheless, we’re about to find out, as the first trailer for his sci-fi action/thriller Surrogates has arrived online. Based on the comic book mini-series by Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele, the movie imagines a future where humans interact with each other primarily through remote-controlled androids. The plot thickens when someone finds a way to kill people through their surrogates.

The concept has potential, but in watching the trailer it’s hard not to think of a million other films including I, Robot, Blade Runner, The Matrix, and even the upcoming Gerard Butler flick Gamer, which is scheduled for release just a few weeks prior. It seems like it will have plenty of action, I just can’t tell whether there will be any thought behind it. I’m also not too sure how I feel about the look of the thing either… not to mention Bruce Willis’s goofy blonde locks. Surrogates hits theatres on September 25th; scope out the trailer below and speak your mind in the comments.

  1. Can’t wait for it. Bruce Willis is probably my favorite actor, and even in his bad movies, he does a good job in them, IMO. I’ll diffinitly be catching this in theaters.

  2. Looks sweet, but then again, I also actually liked T3.

  3. It’s got bruce in it. ticket sold.

and his “locks” are the ones on the surrogate…which makes sense.

  4. I like Willis but this looks dire, a hotch potch of those movies you mentioned Sean. I think Jonathan Mostow is one of those directors that should never be given a budget of this size, while not a perfect film Breakedown is a tight little genre movie.

  5. I love movies that stir the heart, dazzle the mind and challenge my philosophies ….

Then there are action, adrenaline pumping, mindless, brain bypassing movies that I just LOVE too!

Which does this fall into I wonder? Mmmmm? ;-)

  6. This looks like something that could’ve/should’ve come out in 1998 and then maybe it would be slightly relevant. That woman jumping on top of the semi would’ve looked OK rather than downright embarrassing back then.
