Jean-Claude Van Damme’s The Eagle Path Trailer

After the critical acclaim that Jean-Claude Van Damme received last year for his performance in JCVD, things seemed to be looking up for the aging action star. He had been toiling away in direct to video hell for quite a while now, but a lot of people felt that movie would give him a new lease on life — including himself, after all, he did turn down a role in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables. Instead, he was inspired to get back behind the camera for the first time since his 1996 film The Quest. Well, he probably should have left that to the professionals.
The first trailer for Van Damme’s The Eagle Path has now arrived online, and guess what? It looks like a Jean-Claude Van Damme film! The story has him playing “Frenchy”, a former mercenary who now works as a taxi driver in East Asia. While frequenting a bar called The Eagle’s Nest, he meets a beautiful woman who is caught up in some trouble, and he is inspired to do everything he can to help her out of her predicament. “War is hell, but nothing they’ve done could have prepared them for this. It’s an adrenaline-fueled, full-on, maximum firepower thriller, filled with the intense psychological conflict that Van Damme fans love the world over.” Uh… yeah. By the end of the trailer when Van-Damme proclaims, “I love a woman for the first time in my life!”, all of that acting talent that people have been gushing about has gone right out the window. The Eagle Path is coming sometime in 2009; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

well what can i say…not at all promising
Posted by Teo on May 12th, 2009As a child of the 80s I was rooting for the bloke to have a second wind, but this trailer looks less entertaining than most of the rubbish he was making pre JCVD. While I enjoyed ‘JCVD’ it was by no means a great film due to the ‘Taxi’ style humour, but his performance was a minor revelation.
What he needed to do was get himself a minor part in a major movie like Expendables, the same way Segal did in Executive Decision as a platform. It seems that the Van is his own worst enemy. The flames of DVD hell are licking his feet once again.
Posted by Lee on May 12th, 2009No way will this grace the silver screen of even one legitimate theater.
Posted by Jon Rocks on May 12th, 2009What a let down man, I can’t believe he passed up The Expendables for this crap. Film quality looks like another B rate.
I swear Jean Claude is his own worst enemy. His choices are what made him a B rate actor. His ticket back to the front line was being held out by Sly, and he turned away from it… Your loss man
Posted by Adrian on May 14th, 2009Looks great and entertaining! many of you forget that Jean Claude decided that this is what hes best at, JCVD was a revolation in movie making that gave an insight into the actor that Van Damme is. Remember that this is a trailer an unfinished film clips to give us a glimse of the movie. Rating it now is useless.

Posted by Shankar on June 29th, 2009Maybe its a movie he has to get out of the way first. Like Mickey Rourke did by releasing that horrible movie Killshot after The Wrestler.
