First Iron Man 2 Photo Looks a Lot Like Iron Man 1

OMG I can hardly contain my excitement… it’s the first photo from Iron Man 2! And it tells us absolutely nothing! Well, except that Robert Downey Jr. is still playing Tony Stark, I guess. Seriously, this picture is about as interesting to me as a photo of Jon Favreau’s lunch. If I didn’t know any better I would have thought it was a still from the first movie. I really have nothing to say about this except that it is proof that the sequel is currently in production right now. Based on this picture, would you say that Iron Man 2 is going to be equal to, better or worse than part 1? Please provide at least 3 specific reasons as to why you feel this way.

Holy jiminy christmas! The first Iron Man only had three suits, Marks 1 through 3, that pic has a fourth suit! And that box, that wooden box. Amazing!
Posted by Nuno on May 1st, 2009WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!?!?
Posted by Glendon on May 1st, 2009It’s a piccolo in the box.
Posted by bobby on May 1st, 2009I agree, this picture was underwhelming. Honestly, I am not sure if this film will top 1, but since I am feeling optimistic today I will take the pro #2 side today.
My reasons being:
1) The inclusion of Black Widow
Posted by Hero Supreme on May 1st, 20092) Hopefully the whole conflict doesnt get settled by two dudes duking it out in their iron suits.
3) oh, I just realized that my reasons are supopsed to be based on the picture. I will say, more suits = better i guess.
Actually the photo shows you alot if you have read the Marvel comics. This is from “The Hall of Armor”. Once Tony Stark admitted to being Ironman, he started building the “Hall of Armor” where he places a prototype of each suit he designs. Tony designed only 3 in Ironman. The one on the far right should be the new improved suit – for Ironmman II. It looks different than the rest and is more streamline. War Machines’ suit should be added to the “Hall of Armor” next. It should be the fifth one. The box on the table, if I remember right, contains blueprints for suits and concepts designed by Tony’s father. His father helped create the original idea for The Avengers.(There should be flashbacks soon in the film). The photograph also tells us that Tony Stark is now showing that he is evolving more into being Ironman and the conflict within himself. He now keeps himself surrounded by all of the suits as he designs more upgraded models. Actually the photograph shows alot – you just needed to have read the Marvel comics growing-up. To us Geeks it is more than just a picture.
Posted by rene on May 1st, 2009Oh, also I forgot to add that you can also purchase copies of the “Hall of Armor” in photo form or in model form already. Please look it up on line. Marvel does post the information from their comic books. I feel the movie will be a #1, because it basically does hold true to the Marvel comic series. However, please go on line and check it out.
Posted by rene on May 1st, 2009rene bring the knowledge, thanks!
Posted by rus in chicago on May 1st, 2009I love that AICN was all over this picture. It doesn’t show anything. I’m glad that some people like it, but it seems very underwhelming to me.
Posted by ProdSon@TheFilmNest on May 1st, 2009Well, Gwynnth Paltrow’s head is in the box of course. Duh!
Posted by Kurt on May 1st, 2009Hum – is that a glass of beer or mixed drink behind the monitor on the left?
Posted by matt on May 1st, 2009I’m not as excited as I should be. My three reasons:
1. Where is Terrance Howard?
2. Why did they skeet on Terrance Howard?
3. What the fuck were they thinking in regards to Terrance Howard?
Posted by Ryan M. on May 1st, 2009Sean I don’t understand why you are so disappointed. It’s just a picture man. Plus you do see different versions of the suit in the background. That’s something new I think.
The fans are a little on the downside with this movie right now, but I bet that as we get closer to the release things will start to gain momentum.
Posted by msilver on May 1st, 2009I’m not disappointed, I just don’t really see the point of releasing this photo.
Posted by Sean on May 1st, 2009There is a point though! The movie is still in works and since there’s no question of trailer or stuff like that at this point, they decided to release a picture from the movie. Which makes perfect sense, considering that fans are gonna start bitching about not getting any new materials from the movie.
Posted by msilver on May 2nd, 2009Stark looks beat, that’s the interesting angle there and of course the mysterious wooden box. Then there are the clear screens with the metal stands. Kind of defeats the point of the screens being totally clear as the metal stand behind them would obscure what is on the center of the screen. I think Tony is finally realizing this idiotic design mistake and that is why he has that look on his face.
Posted by Ian on May 2nd, 2009Theres two open books on his right. So it seems to me he’s probably trying to research what ever is in the box. I think this movie is gonna be alot better then the last….not that thats any major accomplishment seeing how the first one was that great to begin with
Posted by Rick on May 4th, 2009I want to know why all the suits have glowing arc reactors – if the arc reactor is plugged into Tony.
Posted by Jesse on May 5th, 2009Clearly Tony has opened the hall of armor in Iron Man II. If i were to guess about the two major mysteries of the picture I would say that the books are probably eastern history books of some kind, or his fathers work that regarded the avengers, or original exoskeleton designs. Im guessing the wooden box contains something about the Mochleron Rings (or however its spelled), or it contains something else his father left behind that he would either just be discovering or just be given. IDK if any of this is right all i know for sure is I cant wait for the movie.
