Bruce Willis in Talks for Warren Ellis’s Red

A while back it was announced that Summit Entertainment had picked up the rights to a graphic novel by Warren Ellis called Red. Although I haven’t read it, I’m always interested to hear about any Warren Ellis property being optioned, and I’m even more interested now that Bruce Willis is in talks to star.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Red is one of a couple action movies that have recently been offered to Willis. He would play retired CIA assassin Paul Moses who is “forced back into the game to gain revenge on the agency that trained him”. Bourne anyone? The screenplay is being written by Erich and Jon Hoeber (Whiteout) with Richard Donner is reportedly on the short list of directors being considered.

Another less likely project for Bruce Willis is Antoine Fuqua’s Scarpa, a biopic about the FBI informant who went undercover to help bust the New York Columbo family. He is also mulling over a thriller called Inventory, about a detective on the trail of a murderer, but his next project will probably be the Kevin Smith action-comedy A Couple of Dicks. It’s cool to see Bruno with so many options out there, especially considering that I didn’t see a lot of his recent action/thrillers like Hostage, 16 Blocks and Perfect Stranger. What do you say, is his career officially back on track after Live Free or Die Hard, or was he never off track in the first place?

  1. 16 Blocks wasn’t too bad. But Lucky Number Slevin was an awesome recent movie with Willis.

Interested to find out more about RED now.
