You instantly see him as this bad-ass, and the point should be that he's untrained and needs to learn the skills of the trade. I think ideally, you'd want some younger, not very recognizable actor to play the apprentice. After all, Stallone had been looking to star in this remake recently, and if things are going well between the two of them on The Expendables, maybe they could team-up again in The Mechanic. That's a really awesome Charles Bronson flick, and a remake might actually get people who'd never heard of it to check out the original. Man, Statham really is almost single-handedly keeping the action genre alive it seems. Although I will say he seems too young for the part. Charles Bronson's character was an old-timer professional, who was on the tail-end of his career and decided to try and train an apprentice before it was too late. However, even though he can never match Bronson's awesomeness, I'm really interested in his take on the character. This is fantastic news!
