Family Guy Movie To Include Live Action?

I have to admit, I’m not a big Family Guy fan and I haven’t been all that interested in a Family Guy feature film even though I realize it is probably inevitable after the success of The Simpsons Movie. I feel like 90 minutes of random non-sequiturs could be an agonizing experience, but I realize I may be alone on this one. Recently, however, Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane appeared on The Adam Carolla Podcast where he talked briefly about a Family Guy movie, and he had a couple of pretty interesting things to say.

According to FilmDrunk, McFarlane is especially interested in justifying its release on the big screen, and hinted that the movie may even include some live action elements:

MCFARLANE: I can say with definitive assuredness that it will be out. Within the next few years. We already know what it’s gonna be. We’ve been trying to lock into something that makes it so that it has to be a movie, as opposed to an extended Family Guy episode. And I like the Simpson’s Movie , but that’s something they could do with animation on TV because they’re not constrained by sets. [...] You have to find some way to make it so that it has to be a movie.

CAROLLA: Are you hinting at some live action?

MCFARLANE: Possibly, possibly. Here and there. It will not be a 90-minute Family Guy episode.

I’m not exactly sure what that means, but I’m glad to hear him address one of the major problems with The Simpsons Movie. Mixing in live action elements sounds like a very odd, Adult Swim-like idea, I just wonder what they could do with it and how far they could take it. Will they have a David Hasselhoff cameo a la Spongebob? At any rate, consider me intrigued. What do you think McFarlane meant by that comment? Would you like to see a Family Guy movie?

  1. I love family guy. southapark hit the nail right on the head though. It’s just a bunch of random interchangable jokes after another. but thats why it’s so funny.

but how would you have live action in a family guy movie?

  2. I don’t like Family Guy at all. Definetly not interested in a movie.

  3. ladies and gentleman, mr. conway twitty.

  4. do you know what i havn’t had for a while….big leauge chew

  5. they should go the south park/simpsons way and stick with animation.

  6. Meh. Family Guy has been kind of weak lately and McFarlane is a tool. I suppose if it’s funny then there is no arguing with that but so much comedy these days is unpolished pseudo-meta crap that I don’t expect this to be much better. It all really “grinds my gears.”

  7. , I find this interesting, I will have to try your information
