Brian Austin Green… Lantern?

A couple of weeks ago there was a rumour that hit the web about Star Trek star Chris Pine potentially being a lock for the lead in the upcoming Green Lantern movie, and while he claims that he has not yet been given an offer, a lot of people are still convinced that he is at the top of The WB’s list. Of course, that hasn’t stopped other people from trying to get their own names on the list too. One person who is reportedly interested in playing Hal Jordan and hoping to build up some fan support is former Beverly Hills 90210 star Brian Austin Green. Yep, David Silver himself.
In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Green explained that he is a big fan of the comic and that he is trying to get a meeting with producers and casting directors to discuss the role further. Apparently he is trying to win some people over by bringing up the age factor.
“From what I’ve heard and the response so far from what most people have heard, they’re planning on skewing younger with the character. I’ve heard somewhere in like the mid-twenties, which, being a Green Lantern fan, I don’t necessarily agree with. I’ve always kind of felt that Hal Jordan needs to be a man. He needs to be somebody who lives a little and experienced a lot. So right now I’m just sort of trying to throw my name in and make it something that they might consider.”
Sure. Why not? Clearly, out of all the people in the world, if they do change their mind and decide to go for experience, B.A.G. is going to be the first one they think of. He’s so… experienced. To be fair, I think Green knows he doesn’t have a shot in hell at landing this, but considering he has some fans from his role on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, maybe a supporting role isn’t out of the question. What do you think, can you imagine a world where Brian Austin Green is cast as Green Lantern? Would this guy even be working right now if he wasn’t dating Megan Fox?

Posted by Sean on April 14th, 2009What’s so bad about Brian Austin Green? In most of the stuff I have seen him in he has been pretty solid in general. Just because he started out on Beverly Hills 90210 it doesn’t make him completely incompetent. However, he hardly has a chance at landing this role, you’re right about that.
Posted by Kasper F. Nielsen on April 14th, 2009Maybe he can get Fox to pay some of these producers a visit and give them a certain job maybe?
Posted by swarez on April 14th, 2009I think he would look good in the Green Lantern outfit though… in a completely non-homosexual way. I hate to say it but based on “look” alone, I think he’d make a more convincing GL than CPT Teen-Beat/Kirk/Pine.
Posted by Shut-Up Ed on April 14th, 2009It looked for a moment there that BAG got killed off on T:TSCC, but no one ever gets killed off on that show you just have to just forward or backward in time to when they were still alive.
Posted by Maopheus on April 14th, 2009Well since TTSCC is probably canceled, BAG should have no problem freeing his schedule to star as Green lantern.
I have to admit I loved him on the show and found him to be a very good actor. Physically he looks the role but his voice still reminds me of 90210. But he was good on TTSCC.
Posted by 1138 on April 14th, 2009Anyone who goes from Vanessa Marcil to Megan Fox can certainly hold the power of Green Lanterns Light!
Posted by Wes on April 14th, 2009Actually, this sounds alot better than Tom Cruise remaking Butch & Sundance.
I’ve always seen Hal Jordan as a more experienced character, so BAG as GL would be more believable to me than some younger 20s-ish actor. BAG was great in TTSCC and I’m still holding out hope that it will be renewed for a third season.
Posted by Shawn on April 15th, 2009I hope that the series is renewed just so that I can see how the producers attempt to explain what the hell is going on.
Posted by Maopheus on April 15th, 2009Bashing BAG blindly is pretty sad. He is/was great on TTSCC. I also agree with his point that Hal needs to be older, does anyone really want to see one of these pretty hollywood american idol looking kids play The Green Lantern? Might as well get the lead emo vampire from Twilight to play him.
Posted by auto on April 15th, 2009He obviously has something…..his acting rocks! I think
Posted by lauren conrad on May 7th, 2009he should get a chance starring on the big screen.
BAG bashers need to wake up and move on from 91210.
I agree as well that Hal needs to be older.
