The Satyr Gets Its Due In Dark Hollow

It’s not easy to carve out a place among the pantheon of monsters. It seems as if every available horror has been used and abused many times over. Happily, one of my favourite mythological creatures, the satyr, is finally getting a showcase. Brian Keene’s novel Dark Hollow, which involves a half-man, half-goat demigod who takes up residence in a forest nestled within a suburb, is getting a film adaptation. In the novel, the satyr does as satyrs will and proceeds to seduce every woman for miles around, prompting the men in the community to take action.
I’ve only read the first part of Dark Hollow, but I can concur with the critique given to me by the person who recommended it; this is one filthy horror story. My fingers are aching to describe the erotic pleasures contained within, but I promised Sean I’d play nice. I’d hate for anyone to lose their jobs in this economy. Director Paul Campion’s previous work seems to share this project’s lust for unearthly seduction and eroticism, and Weta are providing the creature effects, so it seems to be in good hands. Anyone else enticed by this resurgence of those longtime bedfellows, sex and horror?

I’m a big fan of Keene, so I’m excited to see any of his books make it to the big screen. I liked this book a lot, though I like it’s sequel a bit more.
*******kind of a spoiler*******
My only hope is that they leave out the penis cutting off part.
