Bill Hader Teams Up With Judd Apatow For Slasher Film

Following the lead of Kevin Smith and his horror project Red State, Judd Apatow is set to produce House of Joel, a slasher-comedy starring Saturday Night Live actor Bill Hader, who also co-wrote the script.
“It is definitely about guys nowadays, that idea that you watch fucked up shit on TV, how violence in our culture – this sounds really hoity toity – you watch fucked up reality shows, I love true crime shows. The idea of that thing coming to your house, and what do you do? I would shit my pants. That’s basically what the movie is about. What if that guy decided to come to your house? What would you and your dipshit friends do about it?’”
The reason I’m most interested in this project is that it seems to be playing off that idea of people overestimating their own abilities in the face of a crisis. You can watch all the horror movies you want, but with few exceptions if a killer came after you odds are you would react worse than even the dumbest characters in a slasher flick. Just the other day a good friend of mine said that he wished some horrible apocalyptic event would occur just so he could test his survival skills. I promised him that while I would not defile his corpse, I would show no hesitation in looting it. All of this raises the question, just how well do you think you would react if you were stuck in a plot straight out of a horror film?

These are the people who think that Funny Games is unrealistic because the people don’t try and attack the visitors. I hate those people.
