Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno Trailer

I feel like I’ve been waiting years to see this, but the shroud of silence surrounding Sacha Baron Cohen’s next film has FINALLY been broken. The first red-band trailer for Bruno has just hit the web, and believe me when I say it is everything I had hoped it would be… and more! I have to admit that like many others, I felt that Bruno was the least funny of his three characters on Da Ali G Show, and I was worried that this movie might not live up to the hilarity of Borat. However, this trailer has put to rest any fears I might have had.
In just two minutes you can see that they’ve put this character in all kinds of different situations, not just fashion shows. The best parts of Borat seemed to come from him interacting with the average joe, and it looks like they’ve captured plenty of that here too. Oh, and Pauly Shore’s gonna be pissed that he stole his baby adoption schtick and made it a lot funnier. What do you think? Is Sacha Baron Cohen still just as cutting edge as he was a couple of years ago? Can this possibly live up to the standards set by his last movie, or will the Borat backlash hurt the film? Bruno hits theatres on July 10th.

Posted by Kasper F. Nielsen on April 2nd, 2009I wasn’t really excited for this film, so the trailer for me was surprisingly good.
Posted by dom_g on April 2nd, 2009This looks awesome, in a way it looks even better than Borat. Which one of the Sex in the City girls are you? None, i’m Donnie.
Posted by Drew on April 2nd, 2009I told you he should have been on your list from last week.
Posted by rus in chicago on April 2nd, 2009“How do you defend yourself against a man with Two Dildos” should be the tagline on the poster.

So true! Too bad soccer moms and religious fanatics would complain.
Posted by Drew on April 2nd, 2009They would have a point though, coud you imagine having to explain to your kid what a dildo was?
Posted by Drew on April 2nd, 2009Looks okay. But the situations look a lot more contrived/fake than those in Borat. I’m sure it’ll be pretty funny.
Posted by Jon Rocks on April 2nd, 2009Well I’m neither a soccer mom or a religous fanatic and I would be offended if the two dildos things was a tagline.
There needs to be some level of common sense and decorum in the public sphere.
The trailer looks funny as hell though.
Posted by Damndirtyape on April 2nd, 2009This looks amazing. He’s is light years ahead of everybody else when it comes to pushing the buttons that need to be pushed.
Posted by Justice on April 3rd, 2009Looks pretty funny but I didn’t find Borat funny when I watched it. Nonetheless, I’ll definitely see this.
Posted by msilver on April 3rd, 2009And yeah this guy is an effing chameleon! I had trouble realizing that he’s the dude from Borat.
Posted by msilver on April 3rd, 2009That chase in Israel looked damn real and pretty scary. I’m sure the swingers stuff is probably faked. Borat had its share of staged scenes as well to get the “story” going. This looks very painful to watch and I haven’t seen Borat since I saw it in the theater, mainly because I have a hard time watching awkward situations.
Posted by swarez on April 3rd, 2009This will make even more money than Borat.
